Agreed. Everyone can be brave in retrospect. As a person that has been in life-or-death situations several times, I understand that and because of my complex-PTSD I am able to function in a crisis. Most people simply can't through no fault of their own.
Agree again. The reality is criminals don't give a damn about the laws. Laws only deter honest people.
    Exactly.
Agreed again. And, I'm not advocating taking away anybody's weapons. I am advocating that it should be a bit harder to OBTAIN a weapon. A self-declaration of no mental illness is ridiculous. Someone that wants to obtain a weapon and/or ammunition has every reason in the world to lie about that. And, every single criminal on Earth was once *not* a criminal. There is simply no way to mitigate this ahead of time.

    There is no remedy for...

    1. identifying mass shooters *before* they become mass shooters.
    2. Identifying potential risks *before* they become risks.
    3. Removing weapons from people hell bent on committing crimes by any means necessary.

We have to destigmatize mental health services. If people can lose their jobs/careers for seeking help, we are aiding and abetting any/all negative coping skills. Life is hard. It's harder if you're stupid. It's even harder if you feel there is no way out of your internal pain except to hurt others.

I have - in 2009 when the Dems went orgasmic over Obama's victory. The press and commentary were over-filled with "the permanent Democratic majority" We were told the GOP would never win a national election again because whites were becoming the minority and black and brown folks were gonna vote in droves for any Democrat who ran.

Here's a quick example There are hundreds of others. You're being played by the Democrats who think you're a member of the unschooled idiots.

Carlson is just reporting the facts I mentioned above.

How about this as examples of my point that the real danger is how you take such racist ideas as common sense. As if they are the correct way to see the works. Instead of think things through, racism clouds your judgments.

I agree that I wish there was more we could do about "screening" people or identifying possible nutcases beforehand but the world of medical psychology is so complex that it would be very difficult to do so without infringing on the Constitution.

I'll use myself as an example as someone applying for the Right to own a firearm in a theoretical scenario to where we are screening people more thoroughly to determine whether or not we allow them to exercise their Constitutional Rights.

I have a medically defined psychiatric disorder which makes me afraid of loud noises (doors slammed, fireworks, etc). My brain automatically analyzes everything as a potential threat and is constantly looking for a way to either quell the threat and exit the area if necessary.
I live completely alone without even a goldfish as a pet and I have lived in my home for years and never once even formally introduced myself to my neighbors.
According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and medical journals I am an alcohol abuser.
I am an introvert who gets visibly uncomfortable and on edge in even moderately crowded places.
My eyes tend to stare "through you" instead of "at you" while talking. (Dead eyes)

The average person reads that and may conclude that this guy is a nut or a creep or at worse a psychopath or something. The reality is that I'm actually just a dude who works A LOT which is why I live alone and get freaked out when you slam the door due to earlier trauma in life and I really don't mean to stare into your soul when talking my eyes just "do that" now unfortunately. Can I have a gun?

So what "media thinking" have black Americans been exposed to that causes them to kill other black Americans to the tune of thousands per year every since the day I was born?

They can ban certain types of ammo. And do. For instance armor piercing ammo is banned on a federal level.

However you cannot completely ban all ammunition for guns because they are an essential part of guns. In order to actually "bare arms" then one must be able to actually USE said arms. A gun without ammunition is just a decorative paperweight.

In any case the AR15 uses .223 a very weak bullet not even recommended for big game. Its mainly used for small game. Indeed a 9mm (most common handgun used) is more powerful than a .223.

But really what would be the point? Human bodies are very squishy. Even a BB can penetrate human skin. And get the right BB gun and it can be just as dangerous as a .22 rifle. That means, yes, it can kill. If a BB gun can kill someone, then it doesn't matter what caliber size you use in an actual gun. They're all going to kill a human being.

For those that don't believe a BB gun can be used to kill....

I think you forgot that more Democrats watch Tucker than they watch any other opinion show. Higher amount than even Rachael Maddow.

Agree with most of your post but just want to reply to the last paragraph. This elderly neighbour's gun is more likely to be used on her or her relatives and friends than be used on a violent neighbour or an intruder as a means of defence against a stranger.

DO you have any actual proof of this claim?

This reads like a fever dream.

It's called setting up a false binary.

    So, you want...what...thought police? Pre-crime?

    So, back to pre-crime?

Of course, admitting to ANY mental health problems is a sure way to ruin your life. I've been depressed as long as I can remember...but there is ZERO chance I will EVER tell a doctor about it. I'm not risking ending up locked in a nut house, or lobotomized.

And break barrel pellet guns, even more so. I was aiming in an old sign today with mine about the size of a speed limit sign about 200 ft off and hitting it almost every single time.

Have to aim about a foot high and then it sounded like after a second or two it finally hit it.

Radical positions on the second amendment are playing directly into the hands of those who would very much like to restrict firearm ownership.
If reforms about safety training and psychological evaluation are not accepted as compromises, much more severe measures are sure to be imposed one day.

Except that is not what they are asking for 90% of the time. They occasionally throw those things in. But if you look at gun control legislation about 99% of the time they include (or are just about) the banning of at LEAST one type of gun or an accessory to a gun.

But lets say they do get those two things. Think that they'll just stop at those two things? Or will "more severe measures" be "imposed one day"?

The gun control lobby is about one thing and one thing only. Ultimately banning all guns. Yes, there are those among that lobby who don't want a ban of guns. But in the end, the gun control lobby wants guns banned. Period. And they will not stop until they get it. And they'll do it by hook or by crook. Don't believe me? Ask yourself this...if that is not truly what they want at the end of the day then why do they demonize guns so much? Why do they portray guns as evil? Why do they always blame the gun and not the shooter in mass shootings? And every time there is a mass shooting, like the Buffalo shooting, they always holler "we need more gun control laws!"?

Look at the threads title here. "gun violence". "Gun violence" is a term specifically designed to place the blame of a shooting on the gun and create a negative visceral emotion. Its about control. However there is no such thing as actual "gun violence". Gun's do not cause violence. Gun's do not cause anything what so ever. People do.

Sorry but violence committed with a gun is indeed gun violence.

No you can't actions that render an amendment moot are also in violation of the amendment.

No, its not. It's PEOPLE violence. Guns are not able to commit violence. They're inanimate objects. They do not move on their own. They don't have a brain. They cannot talk anyone into doing anything. They cannot do anything. People are the ones that commit the violence. Not inanimate objects.

Tell me, when someone uses a hammer to harm someone do you call it "hammer violence"? When someone uses a bat do you call it "bat violence"? No. You don't. You don't even call it "blunt object violence".

Stop blaming guns for violence. They can't commit it.

Which does not negate the fact violence committed with a gun is called GUN VIOLENCE, no matter how much you want it to.

It is only called that by gun control advocates. As I have already explained: Look at the threads title here. "gun violence". "Gun violence" is a term specifically designed to place the blame of a shooting on the gun and create a negative visceral emotion. Its about control. You can defend yourself with a golf club or a baseball bat too. But doing so just adds to the danger for the defender especially if there is a significant size disparity between attacker and defender. And that wasn't the argument I'm making.
