    Listen mate.
I was accused of not living in reality.
My answer is that you make your own.
What I see is that to many in the US create à reality totally different than the ROW.
That you don't even know you have a huge problem , dont try to change it and invfact defend the problem and therefore become part of it.
Which is why I am so disgusted with the quality of your law enforcement. Your police are as dismissive of modération and the value of life and the civilised process of law as is the criminal. Instead they should be models of better behaviour and respect for the law.
Good luck on your downward spiral. When you stop cheering it and start to look further for solutions, you will have taken the first step to à better country.

Who are you to lecture folks on "how to have a better country"? The PEOPLE decide here, not some princess sitting in an ivory tower.

If that is not good enough for you then enjoy where ever you are and leave the rest of us to decide how we want our own laws enforced.

The police here have a duty to protect the public. When some criminal goes off it is their job to immobilize the criminal. It is widely known if you run from the cops it isn't going to end well and if you shoot at them it will end even worse. This idiot knew what he was doing and the police did their job.

Which was asserted by more than just me I saw

Which would be the definition of not living in reality

Could you be any more vague?

So how do US cops stack up against the cops in Australia for shooting Covid protestors in the back once everyone gave up their guns?
I guess those dangerous Covid protestors got what they deserved. huh
Good for Australia and their new Gestapo back shooting police force.

Or are you from the UK where US gun toting Americans came over to save your ass from Nazi occupation and still defends you from any other global threat.
I don't remember any UK base in the US lately. I wonder what would happen if the US pulled their forces out of your country. Bet you don't want to find out. huh

I'm good, thanks for asking as I don't have to make up my own reality to enjoy life or worry about government police shooting me in the back if I don't like what my government is doing. And I feel pretty good about us saving you from your own demise so you could come on the internet as trash those who saved you.

Whycdo you find that an oddxquestion?
Many of your shooters have domestic or deep disagreements with their victims.
The feeling about the representative of the SC among women is loudly antagonistic.
    He should watch his back.

Honestly, if I were a SCOTUS Justice, I'd wear a bulletproof vest. That said, I do wish that the Supreme Court had not 'struck down' the Roe v Wade standard we had had since 1973. Nothing about doing that has really helped anything in this country, and especially at a time when, more so than in ages, we Americans seems to really hate each other's guts.

Why would you ask that question, it can't be important politically and could be useful information to people who intend him harm. Either way there is no need for that to be public information.

Here in Colorado, there is an intriguing marijuana-based "edible" tablet made by a company called "1906" that is named "Bliss", and is sold in 'recreational pot shops'. If we have any more cascading horrors occurring on the national scene, I may wander down to one of these places and check it out. After all, it would be cheaper than pulling up roots and moving to Wales....

We may ALL be on medication before we finally stabilize and begin to regain our collective sanity.

The only things that will flick the switche are

    1) stop the doublethink. For example, save the life of an unborn child but make killing born people easier
    2) stop treating people as some point on an imaginary ladder of worth.

Then the country can ask yourself whether they are part of the problem or part of the solution

BTW Wales is beautiful. Even better if you can speak the language.

It's not doublethink and it's not "imaginary" to recognize that criminals doing criminal things are worth less than, for example, an innocent child. The "trolley problem" sort of questions have been around for decades, and they're all rooted in concepts of value / worthiness that most people understand intuitively. Most of society grasps that if they have to make a choice between saving a terrorist or saving a hostage, the hostage is the one that should be saved. If you're a criminal that is putting the lives of the citizenry at risk, most of us would prefer that you die rather than some innocent victim (sure, it would be better still if you'd just surrender to the police and nobody need die, but you didn't choose that option).

    This is
    1) an admission that you don't yet want to solve your problems and
    2) using silly examples to justify your not wanting to solve your problems.

I can only hope that one day you will find a way to make sure the fewest people as possible die. That means créative policing , undercover work, serious understanding of mental illness and making selling à gun illegal.
But hey. Too many people enjoy living à Quentin Tartantino life.
    Your country.
    Your decision.
But you first have to decide how you value life.

On the contrary, I believe the Akron PD already did an excellent job of solving the problem back on June 27th. And that problem is staying solved. Dead criminals aren't the problem. Crime is the problem. Dead criminals are a solution.

I value living in a peaceful, safe and law-abiding country. We get a peaceful, safe and law-abiding country by enforcing laws, not by making sure nobody ever dares muss the hair of criminals.

You will nevercstop criminals by shooting them.
You will make them far easier to catch and legally process if you make selling guns illegal.
That means only the police can easily obtain one.
It also means that guns are far easier to trace as to where they came from.
Look. I am bored with this.
Either you do or you do not want a secure, far less stress-free place where mentally ill people don't mow down small children in blood for fun or you don't.
I still laughcat the last resorting défense of gun ownership..." It is our tradition"
Geezus. That is one of the saddest things I have ever heard.

I understand that from a Consequentialist view, where you know the outcome you see as the most favorable and reason backwards to it, but, in our system, where no one has an inherent right to rule, all power is derived from The People, it is the process that gives our laws the power to bind our conscience, because they are our laws in a very real sense, they are not imposed on us by an outside force.

This Court finally did what has been lacking for a very long time, they restrained themselves within the confines of the Constitution and the Law, rather than exceeding it in order to impose what 5 people in a nation of 330 million view as just.

We have elected legislatures, where there is sufficient agreement on particular legitimate courses of action, as a Free People we can enact that legislation.

Recent polling is interesting: Majorities oppose overturning Roe, but, 70+ plus support 15 weeks as the limit to unlimited abortion, which is the standard in Dobbs, which is a more permissive standard than most of Europe, all of France, and is in fact, more permissive than Roe.

That's an absurd claim. Of course you can stop them by shooting them. It certainly stopped Jayland Walker, just to look at the example that has spawned this discussion.

Another absurd claim. For a counter-example, selling various drugs has been illegal in this country for decades, but we're no closer to the utopia you envision of "only the police can easily obtain" them as when we started the war on drugs.

Look, I get that you're a gun-banner, and so you try to cram all sorts of disparate scenarios into your "if only you'd ban guns" box, but it's simply not a realistic solution. Our Constitution protects the right of the people to keep and bear arms. And even if it didn't, the people themselves want the right to keep and bear arms. And even if the people didn't want it, we've already seen various examples of how our incompetent government is not capable of just waving a magic wand and making things go away. Abortion activists are right now marching through the streets with coat hangars making that point for me. Guns are no different. They're never going to go away.

You're one of the most naive people I've ever run across here.

Ummm....yea, it kinda does stop them.

They will not be easier to catch. They'll still have guns.

Nope, they'll still be easily obtained. Making something illegal doesn't mean you can't get it. You get that there are cartels to the south of the US right?

No, they'd be obtained illegally, making them almost impossible to trace where they came from. They would've come from, most likely, cartels. Tracking their origin would be almost impossible and incredibly useless. Knowing it came from a cartel wouldn't do anything.

and you either want to be educated or remain ignorant. People choosing to remain ignorant, as you clearly are here, is one of the saddest things I've ever heard.

    OK.
    Let's say it again.
Tou will never stop criminals being criminals or criminality by shooting them
My naivete comes from the reality the rest of the western world enjoys.
I seriously feel sorry for you and thousands of dead children you don't care enough about to try to protect in the future.
Even children are collatéral damage to your status quo.
Enjoy your strange land with contradictory attitudes about what you place the value of life on.
    Not my problem. Thankfully.
You clearly like your situation. Enjoy
