Notice all the ones worried about "precious little lives" don't give a damn? Killing is killing, right? Oh, that's right. We are all equal, but *separate*. /smdh

Small clips cannot be counted on to stop a dangerous threat.

EVERYONE must obey police officer commands. If Ashli Babbitt deliberately disobeyed lawful police commands, then she, too, put herself at acute risk of being shot!

Yes, they apparently continued to shoot him while he was lying on the ground.

yes, he paid for his crimes with his life

if any of the cops broke any rules, they should not have as severe a punishment

Does everyone realize that's an actual recognized type of suicide now? That it's become that certain that cops will kill you if you do certain things?

I'm not sure how you've missed this but since the days of early lawmen the same things would get you shot by the law enforcers. Like, trying to kill cops.

The same thought has been kicking around my brain. With the release of all these cams of police shootings, how is anyone in America unaware that the police will shoot you many many times if they have a reasonable suspicion that you pose a grave threat?

Had the suspect not turned toward them, after fleeing, he would likely still be alive. How is this, not now, common knowledge?

    Yes, but ALWAYS?
I've dealt with several cops who actually took pride in the fact that they NEVER had to draw their gun ONCE in their careers, and these were guys with commendations and many satisfactory years on the force

Does a guy who calls the cops REALLY want the cops to shoot him? I realize the answer might very well be "yes" but what if it's "no"? People still do attempt suicide as a way to get help sometimes.

Believe it or not, perps can fire weapons while on the ground.

The police tell perps to FREEZE and NOT MOVE... but many of those who are bone-head stupid fail to understand simple instructions in English... and there are consequences....

just because some guy never drew his gun doesn’t mean he ever left the jail.

you don’t understand that, and you never will because you’ve demonstrated you don’t understand the job. That’s why you use that dumb sentiment. My first week in the job I was serving warrants and had my weapon out already. Not every job in law enforcement even requires you to be armed, are you aware of that? I don’t think you get it.

what a persons intent is means nothing when their actions are threatening to harm police and civilians.

No rational person believes that dirtbag gangbangers who die in the midst of doing dirtbag gangbanger things is "equal" to, for example, the death of an innocent child or baby.

No, there are lots of shades of killing. Killing in war, the line of duty, or self defense can be moral, even heroic. Killing someone during the commission of a crime, killing innocent people, or killing someone over a trivial slight, is not. Is your moral relativism so severe that you can't make these sort of elementary value distinctions?

Bottom line: the Jayland Walker tribe will all end up becoming millionaires after Akron, Ohio gets sued -- and caves -- to avoid having marauding mobs of rioters and looters do to Akron what the 'Saint George Floyd' mobs did in Minneapolis.

Conclusion: if you're Black, you don't have to obey the law or pay any attention to what any police officer tells you to do... after all -- YOU'RE SPECIAL! :xd:

    Don't aske asinine questions

Why is the number of shots even an issue? They were shooting to kill him no matter how many bullets it took.

"Police officers are trained to shoot as many rounds as necessary at the threat they are confronted with until the threat is neutralized – that is, they are trained to fire until the suspect is unable to shoot or in some other way injure the officer, other police or bystanders."
    https://www.ajc.com/news/national/h...the-case-deadly-force/IV4ohtIm6r8FaEMj78u1bO/

Police Shoot to Stop Life-Threatening Behavior
Police are trained to stop dangerous, life-threatening or murderous behavior, Kelly said. This holds true for all police departments across the country, he added.

Anytime a firearm is discharged, it's considered deadly force, said David Klinger, professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Shooting to injure or maim someone wouldn't stop an aggressive subject, Klinger said, and officers are trying to stop the threat to their life, or the life of their partner or a citizen.

"Why would we want to injure or maim people?" he said. "It doesn't stop them."

Because of the potential risks, it would be "very difficult" to train officers to shoot to wound instead, Kelly said. If someone's life is in jeopardy, shooting to maim or injure will have little effect on the actions of the individual who is trying to kill, Klinger added.

Additionally, if an officer aims at anything other than the torso area, the odds that he or she will miss increase greatly, Klinger said. But aiming for the chest means that the type of wounds suspects usually sustain are likely to be fatal, he added.

    Multiple Shots Are Often Necessary
Officers are trained to shoot with the understanding that one shot may not stop an aggressive subject, Klinger said.

There are only two ways to shut down the human body using deadly force, he said. The first is loss of blood, and the other is a shot to the central nervous system. Police officers are trained to shoot at center mass, in the torso area.

Klinger recalled an incident in 1981 when he was a young officer with the LAPD. The suspect had just stabbed his partner in the chest with a butcher knife, and immediately jumped on top of his partner and held the knife to his throat. Klinger called it a "rookie mistake" when he tried to take the knife away from the suspect.

Even after Klinger shot the suspect and the bullet pierced his left lung, aorta and right lung, the suspect still continued to fight for at least another 30 seconds, Klinger said. It took a total of six officers to subdue him and get him to drop the knife. If the man were armed with a gun instead of a knife, Klinger would have had to keep shooting because "he would have continued to be a threat."

"Even if an officer shoots [someone] with a lethal firearm, it may not stop a person," he said. "When there is a threat to life right now, or serious bodily injury, deadly force is the appropriate response."
