When someone is firing at you, you shoot to kill.

    No other way around it.

I carry. I don't carry to disable someone, I carry to defend my life or my family's life if needed. I will not take the chance of giving that person another opportunity to kill me or someone else. That fact that you think it's that easy shows how little you know about the real world.

That chance is up to the LAW to decide.
Not you. That is why you have courts.
I seem reason why you should not disable someone. That stops them from continuing without your being à murderer.

The law where I live at least, states if someone is firing at you, you can fire back to kill. You don’t get to try to murder people and run, then attempt to claim you were unarmed:)

Good luck to you if someone tries to kill you. Chances are you won't live to go to court.

I know I’ve asked but would you freshen us up on your professional police and security background? I need perspective here before taking any of that seriously.

You’re talking to a French women. Someone who has likely never even been to the United States. She has no earthly idea what she is talking about. She would be speaking German right now if it wasn’t for our ancestors.

You are right -- and here's a sketch I found on that 'Mozambique drill' -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mozambique_Drill

It seems to have been renamed "the Failure Drill" way back in 1980 because bureaucrats were nervous that making reference to "Mozambique" could have RACISM connotations (heaven forbid!) :cynic: .

Anyway, a buddy of mine who's been in law enforcement 'in the Southwest' many years says he's never known this method for 'neutralizing' perps to fail....

We have courts for people who want to surrender to law enforcement and submit themselves to the rule of law. For those that don't, we have other solutions. At least in this country, if you try to kill cops, they're going to try to kill you right back. And they're totally legally justified in using deadly force to stop a (violent) fleeing felon.

oh you’re spot on, and I’ve brought up amazing deal there must be on French rifles of the past.

it’s fun when people are way out of their league on topics like this. Their knowledge seems to be based on Eddie Murphy movies.

It’s hysterical how foreigners think they know what’s best for Americans from overseas. It’s absolutely hysterical. Just a bunch of Monday morning Quarterbacks. Imagine having the gall to tell the French, English, Japanese, etc, etc… how they should run their country and that their country is a giant POS.

*Pssst!* Hey, Ruger... I hate to barge in, but this lady you're referring to is, or maybe was, actually an American who lived and worked here for many years. She and I frequently disagree on matters referring broadly to the 2nd Amendment, but even though she has different viewpoints, I assure you she is well-informed and is the mental equal of any one of us here in the Forum. Moreover, I'm not at all certain that she doesn't speak German if she wants to... (I do). OK... I'll butt-out now.

It’s a great drill I do almost every range day. Your buddy is spot on it’s used by every spec ops group on the planet. Try it next time, 4 seconds is quite generous though. I think you’ll enjoy it!

Just trying to help you avoid making accusations that are not true. Me? I'm a 2nd Amendment supporter all the way, but I've posted here in this Forum long enough to know that when you slam other people, you really ought to know that what you say is accurate, or you risk embarrassing yourself. I've done it before myself....

Now, press on if you want to. I'm outta this 'sidebar'.

I'm not a good shot, and never have been, honestly. And I haven't even been back to the shooting range I like very much since the beginning of this whole damned 'virus' thing. Honestly, I need to get off my ass and get back out there! Thank you!

Hey, whatever it takes to neutralize the threat. I would rather see a thousand perps who resisted arrest and who disregarded police commands get shot than to see any harm whatever come to a uniformed, sworn police officer.

Either we support our 'Thin Blue Line', or, we surrender to criminals, crazies, and others who make a shambles out of our American society and the 'law-and-order' that supports it. Me? I'll support the police officers EVERY (EVERY) TIME, unless hard-and-fast, indisputable evidence arises to the contrary!

I can't support a thin blue line that's trigger happy enough to blow 60+ rounds down range at one suspect (who is running away) in a populated area.

Do you think he was still alive by then? If not the only charge the LEOs could possibly be facing is abuse of a corpse. But that would still require knowledge that he was dead. Without checking his pulse there's no way they could know for sure.

Yea you called this one as someone needed to be punished and learn a lesson that being the police, not the criminal, as you always see it.

They yelled for him to stop, they tried to TASE him twice to no effect, there was no "trigger happy" here The problem was the criminal here.
