I love the blatant partisanship on display in this thread.

Trump defenders are touting a study from several months ago about the hypothetical preparedness of the countries while simultaneously ignoring the real world data from an actual pandemic that is ongoing currently.

Sounds like you are rooting for fail.

That isn't how we do it up here in the USA.

Trump and his administration are doing a very good job of handling this and minimizing the damage ---- in spite of the left's obstruction and hysteria.

The only blatant partisanship here is yours. The NTI and Johns Hopkins disagree with you, and are infinitely less partisan.

By the way, you might want to read the article, you'll see they've debunked some of the false claims you're still trying to perpetuate. (You wouldn't want to keep perpetuating those lies on purpose, right?)

    More memes?:bored:

Anyway, I don't think that ANYONE (Regardless of Party) is "rooting for fail".

The only person FAILING is Trump (who has mishandled the Virus from the start and is now giving people False Hope with this Stupefyingly IMBECILIC "It'll be OK by Easter" BS).

And, as far as the Hopkins Study in the OP?

    The USA Was Very Prepared.

BUT, Trump screwed things up and dropped the ball.

So, we are where we are.

All Patriotic Americans hope for a swift end to the Virus Shutdown.

    Carry on. :salute:

Oh really? I hadn't heard that.

What is the definition of "fail" in that context?

A stagnating economy, high numbers of unemployed, people on food stamps, etc.

They define success by these metrics.

I guess John Hopkins could be correct and Donald Trump just sucks at implementation.

Moving goalposts noted, I thought the old party line was Trump had the US in an unprepared position?

Whatever. People who can't credit Trump for the lowest unemployment in 50 years before this crisis won't get this right either. I just can't decide if it's ignorance or intentional.

Is it that hard for you to make the connection?
If we were the most prepared why are we last in performance?
Gotta be lack of effective use of those resources.

How well or poorly prepared a nation is to face an epidemic isn't merely a question of how much money a nation has to confront it. I already had this discussion a couple of weeks ago when the rankings on this issue where mentioned. The US has the most extra cash to spend on such epidemics and gets highly rated when that is the criteria by which rankings are done. But the US is really poor in 4 out of 5 of the other things that matter in how well a nation can respond to an epidemic. They include the breadth of coverage and affordability of health care for its citizens; the relative number of empty hospital beds; the price and availability of pharmaceutical and related products. And finally, its political and economic system, which regardless of its merits in other situations, isn't exactly the best model to handle an epidemic either.

Why do you keep pushing that lie? Why is that? Is it a case of not telling the truth when a good lie will further the desired agenda or are you just ill informed of the facts? Let me help you out with that.

"A Washington Post reporter has apologized for and deleted a tweet in which she falsely claimed President Trump called the coronavirus a "hoax" during a recent campaign rally.
"My apologies for quoting the president out of context," said Amber Phillips, a reporter for the Post's "The Fix" political blogging team. "As The Washington Post’s Fact Checker makes clear, he called Democrats politicizing coronavirus a hoax. I have deleted the incorrect tweet.""

"Here is the full transcript from Trump's rally, which the Post provided:

“Now the Democrats are politicizing the coronavirus. You know that, right? Coronavirus . They’re politicizing it. We did one of the great jobs, you say, ‘How’s President Trump doing?’, ‘Oh, nothing, nothing.’ They have no clue, they don’t have any clue. They can’t even count their votes in Iowa, they can’t even count. No, they can’t. They can’t count their votes. One of my people came up to me and said, ‘Mr. President, they tried to beat you on Russia, Russia, Russia.’ That didn’t work out too well. They couldn’t do it. They tried the impeachment hoax. That was on a perfect conversation. They tried anything, they tried it over and over, they’ve been doing it since he got in. It’s all turning, they lost. It’s all turning, think of it, think of it. And this is their new hoax."

"The full quote shows Trump is criticizing Democratic talking points and the media’s coverage of his administration’s response to coronavirus," the fact check reads. "He never says that the virus itself is a hoax, and although the Biden camp included the word “their,” the edit does not make clear to whom or what Trump is referring."

Open Borders, Illegal Immigration and being more stingent with who was admitted into the United States could have prevented this Outbreak in the USA. Had China been more forthcoming with information about how contagious from HUMAN TO HUMAN contact this Virus was at the beginning of the outbreak there, this could have been minimized and the United States could have been better prepared and not blind sided. I'm beginning to think More and More that this wasn't an Accident from some Chinese eating infected Bats in Wuhan.

Trump has done just as bad. He’s called climate change AGW a hoax. He’s willing to put the world in danger, just to be a con man. Trump lies about not knowing the seriousness of the virus for two months. Many will die because of his incompetence.

Using the word "hoax" in any context (or any proximity) in a conversation about the Virus is completely unacceptable and proves that Trump is a Clueless IMBECILE.

And the USA being prepared and Trump dropping the ball are 2 separate things.

I trust China's numbers about as far as I trust the US numbers given the lack of testing.
