Jon Stewart is one of the few progressives that I have much respect for. He seems normal and without the usual double standard you see out of these progressive mouthpieces.

    Kudos to him!

Back on topic, considering that Obama increased the use of drones which has resulted in the death of an American teen without due process, countless deaths of children and women, and an increase in AQ membership I would think that the liberals screaming about the torture of actual terrorists under Bush might want to at some point not be hypocrites and condemn him consistently.

I would think, anyway, but given the #2 comment in this thread my hopes for any amount of philosophical integrity are dimming. :confusion:

And His administration has lied about his drone program and the number of innocents they have killed.

There have been 3 americans executed without trial via drones (that I know of) and last week they were casually discussing a 4th potential victim of this (*)(*)(*)(*)ty program.

It would be nice if both parties would acknowledge the failures of their party members when something can still be done to correct it.

Jon Stewart is a person who, more than anything else, is interested in promoting Jon Stewart. I won't even go into all the many things about this spiteful little man with a distended ego that I sneer at; his "War on Christmas" and Sara Palin speaks for itself.

It is interesting to note, though, that when these incandescent, hyperlib "news" savants have nothing else and no one else to chew on, invariably they return to the behavior of devouring each other. And to any self-serving liberal iconoclast, a sitting president is always an easy target, whether he deserves it or not.

For contrast, the "Right Wing", sad thing that it has become, is an angry bird with a broken wing. It squawks and flops around helplessly, complaining about Obama and his goon platoon of power-grabbing 21st Century National Socialists, but nobody in Congress or the courts cares enough to actually DO anything about it. We are sliding down into a socialist septic tank and all the RINO's and the Right Wing talking heads can do is keep on trying to inspire a sense of outrage in a Conservative population that is sick to death and weary as hell of the whole rotten thing.

Maybe, now, finally, it's not that I despise a boring, sniping opportunist like Jon Stewart more, but that I'm starting to dislike someone like Sean Hannity as much!

This is one thing I agree with you on , I think it was two with Bush and one with Obama. I love my military, but these drone assasainations are getting out of control.

It is my opinion that both "sides" are fooled by the only real power out there. If it is not obvious that both republicans and democrats work for the same big money interests by now, when will it ever be?. George was using drones and now Obama is doing the same. George drove up the national debt and now Obama is doing the same. George catered to big business and now Obama does the same.

Until we as voters come to realize that we are just voting for the next person to carry the flag of big business, big money we will remain as manipulable as these real handlers need us to be.

The two party system has failed because those with all the money and access can afford to purchase both sides, and have done so.

This is why I get angry when I call any politician out on their idiocy and am labeled a dem as a result despite the fact I rip on them too. The difference is, it's typical to want a team to root for or an enemy to root against. However, people has taken to the Red Vs. Blue instead of the American population vs. the political hacks doing the bidding of their corporate overlords. In fact, I've seen people DEFEND this bull(*)(*)(*)(*) on these very forums. I can't even begin to imagine the world that they want to live in but I do know it's probably the (*)(*)(*)(*)tiest world ever.

What big business interests did President Bush give hundreds of millions of cash to and then excuse to so called loans?

Don't try telling us that Bush invaded Ira to help the war machine because the big money Arabs were the ones that made the big profits there. Bush didn't even help big oil that much - using the national reserves to bring prices down hurt my brother's company.

It is their job to make as much money as they can for their stock holders and their families.

Tell us who you are talking about? The Wall Street whores is pretty bad for sure.

Uh...why just drones though? Would you be happier if American pilots were at risk? Drones aren't really "pilotless" it's just that the pilot is sitting safe in AZ instead of the cockpit. In many ways he's BETTER than a pilot. He can see at least as much, if not more, and his judgment isn't being clouded by the fact that his life is at risk

My problem is shooting people on the ground AT ALL, really. I am really concerned we're doing it and distressed by the idea that we're killing civilians in a "covert action" that nobody has been told about.

Obama and Bush are equally guilty of war crimes for their drone strikes
For those who support drone strikes I ask you this.
If a known terrorist was at a mall where you and you family were at, would you be ok if the gov't drone struck and killed your family just to get the one terrorist ?
    Yeah, that's what I thought.

Obama lies for the same reason Bush did - he's a slave to foreign powers and internal pressure lobbies who believe America exists to serve them and their oil and religious interests

I don't recall he's ever said there were no strikes going on. Can you link to any statements that do? I believe we still have an actual declared war still going on in Afghanistan, yes? and air strikes are a legitimate part of war.

It's very regrettable there are any civilians being killed, but I can't help but believe it would be more if we used non-remote pilots.

We have declared war on Pakistan and Yemen? Really? Show me where please and then tell me how you'd feel about Russian flyover and drone strikes against Chechens in the US.

It might feel like an act of war to you.

Libertarians are not part of the right or left. Partisans will have to learn this the hard way, I guess.

We have been doing airstrikes in Yemen? Could you link to that? I find that totally unacceptable if it's true. However, I doubt very much you could make a good case in an International court against Obama for it.

The strikes in Pakistan are, I think, being done with Pakistan's permission. I could be wrong there, as they withdraw and reinstate their position on this every week or so. If, however, a strike on Pakistan "overlaps" into Pakistan it is almost tradition that the Pakistanis don't really mind as they don't generally like the Afghans. (I talked to one Pakistani about this, who said they regard Afghans as we would errant children, but a lot more dangerous)

Most of the Taliban were recruited from the Pushtuns. (Pashtuns?) The Pushtuns are traditionally transhumance who winter in Pakistan then take their herds back to high meadows in Afghanistan in the summer. They have been pushing for their own country, off and on, for decades, but neither country wants to give up the territory

Finally, if I had really good evidence that a group of fanatic Chechens were holed up in the interior wilds of Alaska and killing anyone that came close while making bombs to use in Russia and the USA I'd probably thank the Russians for sending a few drones over. I might even not mind if they caught Sarah Palin's house (as long as no one was home)

You could bring up any illegal case against Obama or Bush jr. In international court you like.

And what are they going to do about it if found guilty?

    Lol.
