It's called Junteenth. I hear it passed the House and Senate easily. I'm wondering if our political leaders are wanting this federal holiday to take the place of reparations? It would be a lot cheaper than paying reparations wouldn't it?
Every time I see the terms racism, persons of color, or reparations I turn off and go to the music section. Every time.
I am sorry, friends. I gave the incorrect spelling in my previous posts. The correct spelling is: Juneteenth. I left out the e.
Are we going to have fireworks while an orchestra plays The Night The Drove Old Dixie Down? I mean to have a quiet holiday of reflection just weeks after the quiet holiday of reflection that memorial day is supposed to be is kind of a bummer.
I was thinking about a nice cookout ( bbq chicken, potato salad, corn on the cob, etc.) with music by the O'Jays, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye and Isaac Hayes blaring in the background. But, your idea sounds good too.
Happy Holiday! I wish you the best luck! Descendants of Russian and East European serfs got Reparations in 1918-1920 and late 1940s respectively. I am proud of my great-grandparents.
Best luck to African Americans! Three generations -- my great-grandparents, my grandparents, and my parents lived in apartments (one room per family) which were owned by nobles before 1918. By my time we lived in an apartment built in 1965.
Zorro, do you think Blacks should be happy with a federal Juneteenth holiday, rather than reparations?
We're all Americans. If someone has unlawfully taken something from someone else they should seek redress.
You are trying too hard to be offensive. Many offensive musicians were geniuses, but you are just acting like a fool.
Good Lord I can't imagine it having enough time to cool off from 109° before it all started over again
