Kamala Harris Doubles Down On Calls To Desegregate Schools

Has she just ended her chance calling for busing students again?

"Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) is standing by her support for busing as an effective tool the federal government should use to help desegregate schools.

The 2020 presidential candidate doubled down on her busing comments Sunday in San Francisco after participating in the city’s Pride Parade, according to Bloomberg.

“I support busing,” she told reporters outside city hall. “Listen, the schools of America are as segregated, if not more segregated today than when I was in elementary school. And we need to put every effort, including busing, into play to desegregate the schools.”"

Busing tore the country and our schools apart, let's not forget the riots in Boston, LA, Chicago and yes even Oakland. And now she wants to bring back busing to achieve some sort of quota's? Are the Democrats REALLY going to bring back school busing?

 

So... blacks should not have their own schools?

We've come full circle... at least in my hometown. In the early 60s, innercity schools were mostly all white. Today, innercity schools are 90% Black & Hispanic.

Who does she plan to bus... white kids back into their schools or minority kids to the suburbs?

Watching the debate, I got a bit confused, and assumed she was complaining about being bussed and he must have been for it. But no, turns out she was bussed and she LIKED it! I mean, half of those on the debate stage probably aren't old enough to remember, but EVERYBODY hated bussing. Whites and blacks alike didn't want their little kids bussed across town to attend school. So, after I got straightened out, I thought what the hell is this woman talking about?

 

Bring back? My county has five school districts. The lower district desegregated, but the four other districts had court ordered busing with those four school districts being ordered to spend three years out of twelve busing children in and out of a city. There is no bring back busing for those four school districts, it's a daily fact of life that busing is happening, near where I live. I've lived in some of those districts, but mostly in the southern district which is free to develop according to different logistics.

 

It's confusing, because the leftist virtue signalling is so often at odds with reality.

When you have to pretend that charter schools are racist, even though blacks overwhelmingly support them, and busing is wonderful, even though everybody hates it, it gets confusing.

 

Kamala Harris is one tough cookie, the right knows it, so take all the pot shots you can to vet her. Kamala Harris is younger than Elizabeth Warren and that's important to some people. I'm old enough, but I have a bias towards someone young enough to survive 8 years as a President. I'm of the opinion these old farts in our government should have left office long ago. They act like the torch was covered with superglue. Way too many, way too old in office, they need to go take their naps somewhere else. It should be time to let the kids run the government. What are they going to do, screw it up? You can't do what is done.

 

The riots in Boston was due to forced busing not voluntary busing. Boston had voluntary busing similar to Harris experience for 6 years prior to Judge Garrity forcing kids on buses which is what caused the problems. The blacks and the whites did not want to go schools outside of the neighborhood. The Blacks had a legitimate beef in that the white schools were getting the best exp teachers and more money per pupil. But they did not want to go to mainly white schools.

And what is wrong with busing to the suburbs? It works great up here. There are many suburban schools that spend less per pupil than boston does. They bank the profit and don't have to pay for buses either. The kids are well behaved or they are kicked out of the program. Black kids say that there are more drugs in the surburban schools as the kids all have disposable income.

 

Poor Kamala,... so out of touch with her adopted community... Lots of black civic leaders calling for exactly the opposite so they can "retain their unique and individual identities and not be "diluted" by white culture..."...

She is not out of touch. She is for the re-implementation of voluntary bussing. I am not going to vote for her over Trump either for other reasons, but there is nothing wrong with voluntary busing,

 

There are a lot of communities where the AA folks are balking at bussing. They feel, right or wrong, that their kids are being damaged because of their proximity to the white kids. Ms Kamala doesn't seem to have talked to her peeps on the plantation. She seems entirely distant from them, especially on this issue.

 

She is totally out of touch with the minorities she believes she is reaching.

 

She wants voluntary busing, the parents who you think feel otherwise are under no obligation to send thier children to mostly white schools. Up here in Boston the program is so successful there is a wait list just to get in the lottery.

 

What is "voluntary busing"? There wasn't anything voluntary about it.

 

Even when I when I went through court ordered busing the blacks didn't want to leave their school in their predominantly black city to go to a predominantly white one.

Busing never accomplished desegregation. The black kids congregated with the other black kids and the white kids with white kids.

I don't know where you get the idea that she is in favor of voluntary busing to end voluntary segregation. She was calling for ending segregation, but since people naturally segregate themselves when left to their own devices, she must want mandatory busing.

Desegregation proved to be a boon for the minority of black kids in white schools but an absolute disaster for white kids in desegregated schools and even worse for white kids in majority black schools. The only people who benefitted from desegregation were light-skinned privileged blacks like Kamala Harris. Everyone else was left worse off than they were before.

 

The dems seem to need to push the racial carp still..
