If it's memory motor, then he/she will not remember the skill set. Long term memory is preserved, but the other skill are not.

The real danger is to the care giver's in the home. Shooting a gun is a motor like riding a bike, much more basic than remembering a face or a name. If you've been around Alzheimer patients they tend to get frustrated because they do not remember who their kids or even wife or husband is. They can get into a panic and under those circumstances who knows what will happen?

I understand. Too bad in Colorado an adult child or other relative couldn't just take the weapon away for safekeeping. That would be an illegal transfer and against the law state Democrats passed.

Let me get this straight. Alzheimer's patients are now shooting their caregivers?

I did a quick search. Seems Alzheimer's patients are more likely to be shot by someone else or even more prevalent, attacked, beaten or tortured by their caregivers. We may need a federal program to arm everyone diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

I didn't find one case of an Alzheimer's patient shooting anyone.

Classic case of government creating bad laws requiring more bad laws requiring more bad laws.

They don't have to be coming from anywhere. They are already out there. Your DOJ and Pres. have released a few more thousand with Fast and Furiuos. Maybe you should ask them?

Now you want to prevent law abiding citizens for obtaining their God given right to protect themselves. You need to worry about yourself and stop thinking a gun law will disarm criminals or prevent the Government from arming them. Because there are laws for both , but it obviously can't be stopped.

At issue is not people suffering from Alzheimer's, but rather not being able to properly comprehend confusing government paperwork. It is no different than claiming those who must go through a tax preparer like H&R Block to ensure accuracy in their filings should not be allowed to own a firearm.

It's an insult to our Bill of Rights.... It's a slippry slope.

If our government can ignore the Second Amendment then what stopps them from ignoring the other nine?

Do I think the government has the balls to go door to door and take guns? no, but at the same time they're conditioning young Americans to prepare for it... Will it come? yeah if democrats and progressives had their way, but even at 35 I don't see it happening in my lifetime.. But that doesn't mean I'm not concerned for liberty or the next generation - because I am...

Progressivism is like acid eating away at liberty - it wont happen right away but it will certainly destroy liberty....

And racism. They can't screw with their bread and butter though. They need gangs even though gangs are useless.

I've never heard a story about this happening. There was one, however, where a 93 year old lady had 3 men try to break into her house and she shot one in the neck. She'd probably have been killed if not for owning that gun.

3 of my 4 will be traced directly to an Uncle, a Grandpa, and a Great Grandpa that are buried in Louisiana. The 4th being given to me by my dad, so they'll never trace mine to me and even if they did, they're not getting them.

If someone aims to harm my family, my gun will come in handy. Living on a few acres with wild game crossing through, a gun will come in handy. That's what is good about guns. Feel free to give any you have away.

I don't undertand the whole "racism" thing - I know plenty of minorities that side with us and have no problem pointing out that a lot of minorities are misguided in what they value in culture, but we cant even have an honest debate about that because progressives love to label anyone who has any negative to say about a minority a racist...

I'd love to help fix the ghettos but I'm called a racist the second I assess the problems..

Yes, but the system is using methodes to force society to 'play' their game. By forcing a group of society via a dillemma into a corner, so that group is under more pressure and starts to resist. So the system gains momentum over society by using methodes like these. There is nothing you can do, you can only let them play their game and start to ignore their game as much as you can (that will of course increase the pressure because the system don't want to lose from society of course (you know what happens when society wins over a system tyrannical in nature, which has only happened in time of Robyn Hode, pressure gone, freedom and regime on the run)

So you are good with over 5 million people with dementia, who have demonstrated they are no longer capable of taking care of their own affairs - usually by a court - being allowed to purchase weapons?

That is Not what some gun owners are concerned with, you know and I know it. Just bring up the topic of not allowing people with serious mental illnesses being allowed to have guns in their possession and watch the reaction. Seems like some are worried that if being in control of your faculties is a requirement for gun ownership that they might lose their guns, even if just for the time they are getting professional help. Me thinks some lied when filling out their purchase form and answer no when asked if they had even been deemed to be mentally deficient.

No. The first firearm was created for hunting purposes.

    Your argument just died.
