Leftists, progressives, fawning over Lynn Cheney is ridiculous and disgusting.

Leftists, progressives, Democrats fawning over Lynn Cheney is utterly ridiculous. They've been collectively almost without exception belittling and insulting Dick Cheney for more than a decade (yeah I know, Donald Trump did as well). Calling him basically evil incarnate all due to his role in the U.S. fighting a minor war with Iraq.

Yet now just because she is opposed by Donald Trump those same people are trying to act like they hold his daughter in some kind of high regard.

Disgusting.

 

I'm not a Democrat or Republican. For me, Cheney represents honesty and integrity. She has stood up in the face of unbelievable hostility to speak the truth aloud. That lets me know that she won't bury her head and just smile and nod overlooking outrageous behavior in her party.

What stronger testament can a person have than to stand up to their convictions no matter who gets mad?

 

Liberals don't hold her in high regard lol.

They do recognize the difficulty in speaking against mainstream opinion of one party in this era of cancel culture.

Republicans made her the third highest ranking official of the party, but the moment she speaks her heart they throw her to the wolves, not because of ideological differences, but because she spoke out against the beloved false prophet.

 

While I, obviously, cannot speak for everyone on the left yet, since you are lumping us all together in your charge, I will respond nonetheless, that I believe you are mistaken. "We," on the left, are not mooning over Liz Cheney. I was never a fan of her politics, as far as I knew them, and I still am not, policy-wise. But I do respect the quality of honesty and, just as importantly, I detest hypocrisy & find politicians, who overtly lie & mislead, to be contemptible. So, you are mistaking, for some high elevation of Cheney, what is, in truth, a precipitous dropping down in our collective estimation of the integrity of other Republicans, elected to our federal government.

When one hears praise of Cheney, coming from, "the left," it is hard to imagine how one could fail to recognize that there is an element of relativity involved. It is a pathetic commentary on the state of Republican Party politics, that merely being truthful about patently clear facts, makes one a shining stand-out; nevertheless, that IS where we are. I think the praise you hear comes from a wistfulness, that other Republicans would come back to the real world. I still would probably never vote for her; but I have to give her credit for having the character to stand up against what must be a tsunami of peer pressure, to back down & tow the Trumpy line.

 

There is nothing disgusting exposing trump lies and all those who repeat his lies.

I'll say again what I wrote on another thread: Liz Cheney is the ultimate right-wing ideologue. The person who pushes for blindly following an ideology without bothering to check the consequences. Those who believe that ideology is above everything else (and they do also exist on the left, BTW). But today, putting ANYTHING above the cult of Trump is considered something akin to "blasphemy". Liz Cheney has shown us that there is something even worse than ideologues

Liz Cheney was only one among 10 traitorous republican congressmen who took the non Trump position. She can also join the traitor rino senator romney for her ongoing assault against the new populous republican agenda. She is in the minority of republicans who are pro Trump, and thus her leadership role in a particular committee is going to be canceled come next Wednesday.

 

In other words, Worship Trump or pay the price.

I'm not sure how standing with a person who speaks their truth - in the face of political suicide - is somehow 'fawning'. Perhaps you are drawing that conclusion because her truth is about Trump. But again, her full message is about standing for democracy. And I will support anyone - left, right or center - who puts the best interests of the country before their own political ambition.

 

You'd think, now your just being unrealistic, partisan is partisan and this my friend is just the left being partisan! Obviously it's not as much party as it is the message. Clearly the left can quell their hatred for anyone as long as the message meets their partisan qualification
