Guns have very little value. They also cause a lot of harm.

 

Sadly most of those who legally own firearms are not careful in keeping firearms away from those who have no permit.

 

That's why gun registration and universal background checks are necessary. Loopholes need to be eliminated.

OK I've started looking. First with the CDC. They have figures for what is classified as defensive firearm use ranging from 60,000 to 2.5 million!!! gun uses P.A. Again far to wide to be really meaningful. It appears, (having trouble deep diving to the source) that this tally includes all uses of a firearm where the claim is made that it the use was defensive. Note claim not confirmed. They all note that 'Estimates of defensive gun use vary depending on the questions asked, populations studied...'

So whoever does a study will get a high number of confirmed 'defensive use' answers if, for example peace officers or private security guards are part of their study group. I'll try to do more digging as an when I can but the figures look like an awful mashup and as a result - are probably not every reliable/useful.

 

Along with being subjective and deficient of relevant fact, the above has absolutely no relevance to the question that was presented.

Try again. There is absolutely no legal venue in the united states for the acquisition of illicit narcotic substances such as cocaine and heroin, and yet the number of overdoes-related deaths is only increasing despite their illegality. Why is such occurring? Why is there not a steady decrease due to their illegal nature?

 

A claim that cannot be proven on the part of yourself.

Most states in the united states do not even require a permit for firearms ownership.

 

Neither of which will serve to prevent so much as even a single act of firearm-related suicide. And as has been demonstrated by the state of New York, the only reason firearm registration exists is so the data can be released to the public, informing everyone of where firearm owners live. Either so they can be targeted for crime, or so the criminals know who to avoid when selecting victims.

 

Explain precisely how. Go into detail in demonstrating exactly how such proposals would serve to save so much as even a single life. Not in the mere hypothetical sense based on circular logic, but in a manner that can be proven and verified.

 

And they where disarmed before it happened and now you want that for the law abiding in the US, that's totally pathetic.

But keeping guns away from people interested in homicide or suicide is a good idea.

 

Sadly this is the case. And hundreds of thousands of lives have been lost.

 

Then cease commenting further on what will work or will not work, from the perspective of yourself.

And yet it physically cannot be done. The state of California is an example of such a failure, as it cannot even keep its own registered firearms from falling into the possession of those who cannot legally own them. Therefore there is no point in discussing such proposals as if they held any legitimate merit.

 

Thus demonstrating the matter has been politicized, and those who are no longer alive are not actually of any interest, to yourself or others, unless they can be exploited for some political gain.

Metaphorically standing on the bodies of the deceased, and dancing in their spilled blood, is hardly the way to go about doing business.

 

Or to gain any credibility, and i would add just repeating the same thing over and over, hoping to get a different result is just bizarre and quite boring, it is as if the person making such claims is reading from a script not actually expressing how they actually feel or know about the subject of the thread.

 

All these people must be remembered -- 572,000 in USA 1999-2016. Future tragedies should be prevented.

 

An Autistic can repeat the same line with interest like a bulldog. Autistic mind has very narrow focus.

 

And being narrow focused, by your own admission, results in a lack of the ability to both fully understand the subject or to be able to properly debate the subject, as such all of your comments should be dismissed, as they are nothing than more than parroting bullet points from anti-gun propaganda, not your actual thoughts.

You started out with a bit of credibility, but you have little by little ground it into the dirt to the point you cannot be believed about anything, you deliberately inflate numbers in a lame attempt to prove a false point, you repeat statements that long ago where proved to be false and you continuously fall back on your handicap as an excuse for doing such.

You have basically boxed yourself into a corner and in the process have exposed yourself as to what you truly are, you need to back up a perch or two, try to open your mind a tad and actually learn the reality of firearms, then you will realize much to your surprise the positive use's of firearms greatly outweigh the criminal misuse of them.

Furthermore you might realize the only way to reduce the misuse of firearms is by incarcerating those who do for long periods of time, if not execute them, as for suicides that's not a firearm problem, it is a societal problem and until that is recognized by society, nothing will prevent suicides from happening.

That's reality, learn to live with it and your life will be much better going forward.

Gun owners need to stop being enablers. They should be held accountable.
