President Donald Drumpf told the veteran journalist Lesley Stahl of the CBS program "60 Minutes" that he bashes the press to "demean" and "discredit" reporters so that the public will not believe "negative stories" about him, Stahl said.

Stahl's disclosure came Monday night during a talk at the Deadline Club of New York's annual journalism awards at the Harvard Club in Manhattan.

The CBS reporter was speaking to the audience along with PBS NewsHour host Judy Woodruff.

Stahl said she and her boss met with Drumpf at his office in Drumpf Tower in Manhattan after the 2016 election in advance of a recorded sit-down interview for "60 Minutes.

"At one point, he started to attack the press," Stahl said. "There were no cameras in there."

"I said, 'You know, this is getting tired. Why are you doing it over and over? It's boring and it's time to end that. You know, you've won ... why do you keep hammering at this?'" Stahl recalled.

"And he said: 'You know why I do it? I do it to discredit you all and demean you all so that when you write negative stories about me no one will believe you.'"

Was Lesley sober when she said that? She usually isn't by mid-afternoon. Poor old thing.

 

Insulting Stahl doesn't make you less gullible. Have you always been susceptible to a con man's con?

 

I've lost track of how many of Don's lies have been counted. With today's lie by Don the list just grew by one.

 

Good strategy. Who better to bring out the corrupt nature of the left's MSM?

Millions have been talking about how biased the media is. They've been turning away from it in such massive numbers, they were on the verge of collapse until President Trump came along. Did the left's media partners do anything about it?

Now, it's just dog whistles and click bait directed at the target audience.

And how interesting that Stahl is bitching about the bias her trade pushes on the public by the hour.

In keeping with what Stahl revealed, Don's attacks on the media have worked..............at least with The Following. How does he keep them from paying attention to his constant lies? He smears the media. How does he keep them from accepting the legitimacy of the Mueller investigation? He smears everything associated with it.......including the Repubs who are running and supervising it.

 

Don does impress me, he can lie more in a day than I can fart and that's impressive..

Why in the world would Democratic politicians feel the leftist mainstream media is on their side? Because they are.

Trump, as well as most normal Americans, are well aware that the mainstream media is biased and will do their best to help the Democratic Party shape a narrative to win elections.

Stahl continues:

In sharp contrast, she recounted her dealings with GOP politicians: “The Republicans expect us to be tough and they just accept that we’re tough, and we’re all treated the same, it’s very professional. They don’t call you up at night and yell at you.”

But normal Americans, those who live outside the liberal/progressive/socialist echo chamber, are well aware of this, as the wikileak Podesta emails showed numerous cases of collusion between the Democratic Party operatives who pose as journalists for the mainstream media and the Democratic party.

So good for Trump; we finally have a president who calls out the liberal/progressive/socialist mainstream media for their blatant bias...

One doesn't need to be considered an authoritarian to bring attention to the bias in the left's MSM partners.

The public is well served by knowing the BS that is being sold as news on an hourly basis.

 

True, but the object of the fake news ruse is to elicit from the minions the exact reflexive reaction ocean515 splatters on the board about every day. The see a critical story and immediately look for a reason not to believe it. They don't fact check it, they don't look for corroboration of it, they put it in a mental category called "fake news" so as not to have to deal with its veracity. That means they can discount the 95% of stories accurately reporting the news about Don and his corrupt band of criminals.
