The difference is that I'm not assuming that I know the facts of what took place or why he was detained

The State Department had nothing to do with the National Assemby's vote

Individual liberty died with FDR’s raw deal for the creative and the productive.

And who’s feeding you your misinformation?

As an aside, you seem enthralled with democratic elections. Are you aware that Hitler gained power democratically, with his Nazi party winning the most votes, giving them the ability of having a partnership with the German Nationalist People’s Party, thereby providing Hitler with a path to the chancellorship. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/March_1933_German_federal_election

The point being: elections without a constitution defending individual rights is nothing more than the vote of wannabe thugs electing an Al Capone as their Attila the Hun.

And if there is one thing the Left is good, it’s mob intimidation. They learn it in college as peer pressure.

As limited government proponents we should be resisting the meddling of our gov in foreign nations. It's never for noble reasons

I don't disagree, but that doesn't mean we can't support something or someone from the sidelines. We can also support freedom

Unfortunately, there is no freedom that we are going to put in place there. Just more empowering of the gov/banking/defense contractor stranglehold that is ruining our nation.
We do nothing for the good of anyone other than these three

I would throw in the medical/pharmaceutical industry. Here are the five most expensive drugs in America:
    1. Actimmune: $52,321.80 for one month. Actimmune is used to boost the immune system in chronic granulomatous disease. ...
    2. Daraprim: $45,000 for one month. ...
    3. Cinryze: $44,140.64 for one month. ...
    4. Chenodal: $42,570 for one month. ...
    5. Myalept: $42,137.60 for one month.
Half a million dollars for one year of medication..... impressive. This is why you can save your entire life and be bankrupted with a single illness.

Guaido is the elected President of the legislative assembly. Per Venezuelan law, in the absence of a legitimate president, he is the acting President. We didn't just choose somebody at random to be president. we based in on the actual Constitution of Venezuela.

Precisely! You "think" as you are instructed to "think", and if the mainstream media doesn't cover the story, well, in the minds of men like you, it didn't even happen.

That makes you simply a typical American with a deficient conscience.

Yeah sure. That's why the 50's and 60's were times of great comfort and progress for the common man.

Damn, you are most excellent at repeating propaganda and government talking points. There might be a job waiting for you on the staff of Marco Rubio or Bibi Bolton! Falsehoods thrive in Washington DC and its mainstream media.

To be honest, I had not even heard or really even cared what is/was happening at the Venezuela embassy until this thread appeared. My opinion was based on the article and videos you posted.....which showed nothing that you contended. But I did noticed that in your last post you linked a very non-bias progressive blog piece. It really makes me wonder which one of us is being "instructed" on what to think.

I'm not surprised you were unaware of US machinations and threats towards Venezuela. You're likely also unaware that British banks has seized Venezuelan gold deposits they hold. That was several months ago.

Many Americans are comfortably numb and totally oblivious to what's going on around them. My dear brother is very much that way, and numerous good friends. If they don't see it on TV, in their world it never happened.

I disagree with your contention that apathy is an "American" condition. Apathy is a condition shared by people all over the world. While I am aware of the situation in Venezuela (and have empathy for the Venezuelan people), I know and care little about what is happening at their US embassy.....as I am fairly certain applies to a majority of the people on this planet as well.

LOL. Because of Roosevelt? Hell, he did everything he could to murder capitalism--and it's still an open question as to whether or not the victim will live. We all may end up like Cuba, or Venezuela, or North Vietnam, or Zimbabwe, or on, and on, and on....as the lights go out and the Dark Ages return.

    It's called the facts.

Fact: Guaiado was elected first as a member of the national assembly, then as the president of the national assembly.
Fact: The Venezuelan Constitution says that in the absence of a legitimate President, the President of the National Assembly is acting president until there is a legitimate election.

Of course you don't care about what's happening at their embassy. You don't have the time or the inclination. And yes, that makes you a typical American, a member of the indifferent majority.

Regarding apathy, you may not remember that while the American people were swallowing whole the lies about WMD in Iraq, significant numbers of Europeans were out marching in the streets protesting the belligerent actions of the US government.

Oh capitalism survived FDR, worry not. Indeed, it has now become the hand inside the glove of government. It has evolved into a fascist situation. Government and industry have in so many ways become one and the same, rather as Ike predicted.

Snowden's revelations have confirmed what common sense tells you.

You do know that capitalism requires a separation of state and economy, right? Whatever it is you're referring to, it isn't capitalism, but a mixed variant of statism; not as toxic as some systems, like communism, socialism, fascism, but still, ultimately, deadly.
