A salary raise is required to those employees who could not afford to acquire basic needs such as food, shelter, and clothing.
No problem if we are in the stone age where people wear nothing and only live in caves, now it's quite different there is a symbiotic relation between an employee and an employer, the employee takes care of the employers business and in return the employee should take of the employee keeping them healthy, happy, contented, and well fed.

I could assume you have the best corporate employer there is.

I focused exactly on what you posted. People are overspending to the tune of $500 billion per year. Now, your post is designed in the typical Trump fashion way: Me good (I live within my means), 1/3 of the people bad (they don't live within their means). None of that thinking will address the problem, except for assigning blame.

How is the problem caused? Not by 1/3 of the US population being bad people, but rather by our system based on debt, which makes keeping up with the Jones's the main goal in life.

Second, you seem to fail to notice that the very process of these people spending more than they make is generating GDP growth for the Trump "magical" economy. That's why I asked the question what GDP growth would be without the injection of annual $1.6 trillion debt spending. It seems like that flew right over your head.

Personally, I abhore private debt. I have my mortgage paid off and have no other personal debt. I buy our cars on cash. That doesn't mean I cannot understand the plight of people who are not as fortunate as me.

    Facts Republicans don't understand:

    1. Living in America is expensive.
    2. It's not easy for everyone to get a job that pays more.
    3. We need people to work those low-paying jobs.

Yeah, that's not how it works.

People earn what the labor market determines they're worth. I have no obligation as an employer to keep my employees healthy, happy, content, and well fed.

What I do have an obligation to do is to pay them for their time and experience at the rate we agree to that is determined by the labor market. Hint: if somebody with similar qualifications is willing to do the same job cheaper, then the labor market for their skills drives wages down.

Me employeeing somebody doesn't mean I adopted a child.

If they want all the things you listed, and that isnt warranted by the wage established by the labor market, then they need to obtain more marketable skills to improve their wage.

    I ain't your daddy.

People who's skills require lower pay will love lower quality lives and have to work more.

Here we go with the victim mentality and lack of individual accountability.

People were made to overspend! It wasn't their fault!

This isnt something new, and certainly isnt about Trump as badly as you want it to be.

So, people overspend by 500 billion per year, but you want to bring federal deficits into it? That doesn't make any sense.

    You mean... you were responsible?
Stop feeling sorry for everybody, it makes your political agenda irrational and only guarantees people continue to make poor choices as victims.

Sounds like with all that travel and savings and spending you have been on the very HIGH end of middle class...and there's a big difference between that and the low end where most people are.

Nearly 1 in 3 American workers run out of money before payday—even those earning over $100,000

They have a powerful teacher - the federal government.

You dont know that. Your making assumptions.

This individual may have elected to live in a low cost area, in a small affordable 1000 SF ranch, only driving used cars and passing on much discretionary spending...

It is very possible to live within your means on a middle class income.

The narrative that everybody is overspending because they dont make enough money is BS.

Emergencies happen. People who do not have an emergency fund in a separate account are crazy or were underserved by public education.

People who refuse to learn the basics and insist on living stupid are going to have a hard time in a modern society.

If you're living off credit cards you truly believe that life should be at least 20% more expensive for you than for other people; it's essentially giving yourself a pay cut.

You aren't funding ****. My wife and I both worked, lived below my means and invested more than 20% of our earnings for 30 years. My investments fund my lifestyle, which is still below our means. People that think they are entitled to what others earned are leaches on society. You get no thanks. You didn't earn it. I also earned my military retirement by working more than 40 hours a week and getting paid less than I would have on the outside. I served my country for 28 years. Went to Iraq and Kuwait several times. What have you done to earn my thanks?

In Iowa there are still multi-millionaire bank president's who've been on the tractor since navigational twilight and walk into the bank in bib overalls, and worked their way up from teller. When the bank closes they're back to work on their farm. They only look like they're barely making it. They're capable of counting votes.

I know a lot of millionaires. None of them inherited their money. None of them wears a suit accept to funerals and sometimes weddings. All of them are hard working working folks. Most of them don't even have a degree. They just worked, lived in a small house, always bought used cars and invested the money they saved by not living the high life.
