I have been noticing a trend among some conservatives here where they will find a liberal or group of liberals who have done or said something awful and then generalize it to all liberals. They will also do the same to groups they hate like Muslims, immigrants, racist rally protesters, etc.

They will mock liberals for being easily offended calling them snowflakes but when they make these threads they sure get upset when this one liberal says something and scream about all liberals believing this.

Just to clarify not all conservatives do this, only certain <Rule 2> and those who have become so partisan they just want to find any reason to hate the other side. Also liberals sometimes do this too but I have just seen this far more often from conservatives.

So lets use this thread to collect a list of threads on both sides that do this and see just how ridiculous this problem has become, and maybe get this to stop.

Charlie Hebdo cover casts Harvey victims as neo-Nazis by Steve N
    http://politicalforum.com/index.php...ver-casts-harvey-victims-as-neo-nazis.513602/
This conservative is complaining that since one controversial French comedian made a comic about Hurricane Harvey flooding Neo-Nazis in Texas this should be blamed on the left wing media.

To the left, white supremacists are worse than pedophiles, apparently by Brewskier
    http://politicalforum.com/index.php...-are-worse-than-pedophiles-apparently.513574/
This conservative gives a few examples of liberals being soft on pedophilia and then makes the claim that the entire left is soft on it and sees white supremacy as worse than pedophilia.

    http://politicalforum.com/index.php...-in-california-source.513672/#post-1067955011
According to this conservative since a cop was attacked by a gang this should be blamed on illegals and all illegals should be deported.

It is kind of amazing that an action of a group of people that comprises less than .0000001% of the total population of said group can suddenly be used as a "norm" for that group.

Hyperbole and exaggeration - the life-blood of the internet.

To be historically correct, Antifa were the militant arm of communist in Germany during the 1920's and 30's.

Antifas in America are neo-marxist fascist.

The Unity Congress of Antifa, held at the Philharmonic Opera House in Berlin, on July 10, 1932. The congress was organized by the Communist Party of Germany as a rallying point to defeat the Social Democratic Party and the Nazi Party. Antifa labeled both parties as “fascist,” which was a political label they used for all rival parties.

I think you are confusing modern Antifa organizations to some fanatics in the 1930s. Conservatives tend to lump all counter-protesters in with Antifa and lump all Antifa with the most violent and radical. This tactic is exactly why I made this thread. :)

Definitely true. I will try to use this thread to document just how often this happens on this forum.

So a group was opposed to Hitler, Nazis, and Fascists in 1932 and you think this proves that they are ...evil?

    Corollary son, Corollary.

You have liberals lumping skinheads who adopted the swastika as Nazis or neo-Nazis.

There are only about 500 real Nazis in America today.

Real Nazis are liberals or socialist.

When I see neo-Nazis I can't keep a straight face, they must be really stupid and never read the Nationalist Socialist Party platform. When you read it you would think you were reading the Democrat Party national platform.

After WW ll, military veterans formed bike clubs that would become 1% OLMC like the Booze Fighters, Hells Angels, Satans Slaves, Outlaws, Straight Satan's, etc. All were WW ll vets and the majority fought in Europe.

They adopted the swastika and the maltese cross to intimidate and scare snowflakes and generally to just piss off people.
They weren't Nazis and a not to many years before they were killing Nazis on the battlefield.

Surfers and hot rodders would also adopt the maltese cross so the 1% bikers dropped the cross by the early 70's.

Surf Nazis...they aren't real Nazis but surfers who are very territorial. "This Is My Wave."

The Confederate battle flag of the Southern Cross did not represent the Confederate States of America or slavery. It's just a freaking battle flag. The flag that represented the politics and the government of the CSA was the Confederate flag, the "Stars and Bars"

Most of the time, on this forum the hyperbole comes from the left, making sweeping generalizations without any factual basis. So i find it very peculiar that those on the left are so aghast if this tactic is used back at them... can dish it out, but can't take it?

IOW, this is just an instance of the pot calling the kettle, black.. and that is not a racist meme.. :D

I bet the national socialists said the same thing.. :D

So, is there a place for pointing out inconsistencies, lies, or dangerous ideology when it arises? If someone was crying 'Wolf!' when Stalin took power, were they just being hyperbolic? Hitler? Pol Pot? Trump?

By what standard can you dismiss 'some' criticism as being 'over generalizing!' but others as 'pointing out the Truth!' ? Does it depend on which ideological camp you are in? Or is it because when a group or movement begins to lose the 'war', they also begin to call for peace & compromise?

I stated my opinion, based on my own observations. It is no different than the OP. So why was he not accused of living in a glass house?

He's using this thread as an exercise to see how different people use excess hyperbole and exaggeration to get their points across. While he said "some" on the right do it - you just made a generalized, "the left."

Nevertheless, it is the pot calling the kettle black, as my observations stand. I see a LOT more name calling, distortions, hyperbole, phony caricatures, & propaganda from leftist sources than anyone on the right. Traditional Americans tend to be more straight shooters, not manipulating, agenda driven ideologues.

If the shoe does not fit, i won't force it on anyone. But everyone knows what i mean.

Do you see how waving around swastikas and making Nazi salutes might lead people to believe that you are a Neo-Nazi? Can you really blame people for making that "mistaken" judgement?

No, all overgeneralizing is illogical whether the left and the right does it. Are you actually defending over-generalizing? Wait, aren't you the guy who made up a bunch of lies about what evolutionists believe and then made up a list for it? Let me add you.

    Fallacies of Evolution by usfan
    http://politicalforum.com/index.php?threads/fallacies-of-evolution.490664/
Conservative makes up a bunch of unsupported claims on what evolutionists believe based on what he claims to have heard or misrepresented from random people on the internet.

good example of hyperbole.. or false accusation.

Did you try to rebut any of my points in that SCIENCE thread? I don't' remember anyone doing so, just the typical leftist raging, name calling, phony narratives, & ad hominem. IOW, FALLACIES. My statement here stand, unrefuted, & so did my premise in that thread.

Anytime you want to venture over into the science forum, & defend your beliefs about origins or naturalism, you are welcome. But i'm pretty much a stickler for Real Science, not just generalizations, hyperbole, ad hominem, & false accusations. You will need logic & science, if you wish to deal with the scientific method, & not just throw out left wing propaganda.

Sure if you can show me that evolutionists believe that "Evolution is true because everybody believes in evolution" then you have a start. Else you have just massively over-generalized or at the very worse made this up completely.

Straw man. Nowhere did i say that. Are you trying to 'prove' my premise in the 'fallacies of evolution' thread? That the only evidence given are logical fallacies?

Why bring that up, here? Why troll your own OP? There are other 'origins' threads, if you wish to debate that topic, so why attempt to 'overgeneralize' with spurious references & your own bias? Are you trying to demonstrate the irony of your own OP?

You are not going to get away with this. Here is a direct quote from you:

    Fallacies of Evolution
Here is a list of fallacies for the Theory of Evolution (ToE) as it is commonly taught in schools.
    ....
'Everybody believes this!' This is an attempt to prove something by asserting it is common knowledge. It is obviously not true, anyway, as many people do not believe in the ToE, in spite of decades of indoctrination from the educational system, public television, & other institutions intent on promoting this ideology.
