http://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-europe-39765575/macron-eu-must-reform-or-face-frexit Madam Merkel, you have been dismissed.
They all bleat this BS. It's meaningless. Rather, find me an EU federalist like Macron who doesn't publically state the EU must reform.
Exactly, 'promises, promises' to get votes, then forget all about the 'reforms' afterwards if the subterfuge works. But I'll bet the French will fall for it . . . the EU propaganda machine will see to that!
If Macron wins, and pushes for reforms, and this that and the other and Germany don't agree, then it'll be a little bit like British Prime Minister David Cameron when he veto'd things that Macron loves; like an EU armed forces. If Macron doesn't get his way and gives France a referendum, he'd probably campaign on the remain side, like vetoing referendum delivering David Cameron did?
He hates the current system and neo liberalism more than most for longer than most. However his position has been that to try and revolt against the current system before you have an alternative would just give a free hand to the far right - to fascists. Hence his position has always been to work within the current situation to change it rather than to try and destroy the current situation. He says much as he hates neo liberalism his strongest hate is for fascism. Hence why he and others worked to create DiEM25 Obviously whether you think his opinion is worth anything would probably depend on which side you are sitting on. If you like the EU as it is, his opinion would be worth nothing. If you want the EU disintegrated and ethnic Nationalist States instead, his opinion would be worth nothing. If you want the EU transformed from neo liberalism into a social democratic system then his opinion would be worth a lot.
No I don't think that's not what he is saying at all. He's saying that unless he gets the reforms he could lose the next election to NF or other who support Frexit. It would seem that perhaps, as I had hoped, Brexit would act as electric shock therapy for the EU to reform itself. Hopefully we will have both a stronger EU and a more flexible UK working together.
Only a week or so to go for the result of the French election, and I'll bet the charlatans are crapping themselves that the gravy train they've been travelling on for so many years is finally gonna hit the buffers. You'd need to have a heart of stone not to laugh!
The kind of reforms pushed by Macron, and all other Europhiles will just be about consolidating the power of the EU, and make it more efficient (if you're a Europhile), or powerful, (if you're a Euroskeptic). The mainstream parties in Europe for the most part miss their mark when trying to address the opposition to the EU. They think they can somehow make the EU work for everybody, when the EU is rejected as a concept, really strongly by a lot of Europeans.
I obviously do not know whether you will be able to get this wherever you live. Yaroufakis comes on at 18.20 http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b08plth0/newsnight-02052017
Obama was on BBC (where else? ) news last night supporting Macron - is there no end to this loser's chutzpah? He's worse than Blair for self-belief and shameless attention-seeking - and the BBC itself, referring ad nauseam to Le Pen as 'far-right' as per effing usual, didn't miss an opportunity to remind viewers that Macron is well ahead in the French polls.
