The problem with capitalism is that it allows land to be monopolized and therefore not put to the best use. Some valuable land that others would love to put to productive use just sets idle, while the landowner waits for society to place public infrastructure that will make him rich, which might take many, many years.

I propose that government replace other economically destructive taxes with a land value tax. Land value tax will make landowners put their land to good use, else the tax will cause them to lose money. Then, so that landowners can keep getting something for nothing, we could simply issue licenses to landowners that would allow them to steal a certain amount of goods from retail outlets. Land value taxation would prevent landowners from getting rich by just owning land, but society could replace that loss to the landowner with a license to steal.

It makes no difference to society whether landowners get rich off of simply owning land that nature provided for free, or if they get rich by stealing goods off the shelf at the local Costco. Landowners do not earn what they get either way, and it therefore makes no economic difference to society. However, since land value taxation is so much more efficient at financing government, and eliminates the idle, speculative withholding of land from production, society would benefit from the change.

Again, I propose to replace current taxes with a land value tax but issue licenses to steal to landowners. The licenses to steal will cost society nothing as compared to the current system. It is more economically efficient to replace other taxes with a land value tax and then just let landowners steal consumer goods in an amount equivalent to the income they currently get by owning land. The benefit from this system would be that land would no longer be monopolized and put to inferior use, or no use at all. Land would always be made available to producers by a tax that prevents monopolization.
