A man fatally shot a Black teenager in a hotel parking lot after confronting him over his loud music, Oregon police say
    November 28, 2020

An Oregon man was arrested and charged with fatally shooting 19-year-old Aidan Ellison at a hotel on Monday, according to local reports and The Ashland Police Department.

KTVL-TV reported that Robert Keegan, 47, confronted Ellison in the parking lot of the Stratford Inn because of the volume of his music.

An argument ensued, and police said Keegan shot Ellison in the chest and killed him.

Keegan has been charged with second-degree murder and first-degree manslaughter, according to police. He pleaded not guilty to charges, Fox 26 reported.

Local activists told Oregon Live that police stating that Ellison's music was loud is "irrelevant" calling it a "frame of white supremacy."

A common problem. The loud music I mean.

And guess what? A lot of the "racism" having to do with people not wanting Black people to live near them simply has to do with the worry about loud music and nothing else.

Loud music going on incessantly in the background really can drive many people to insanity, especially in the evenings when people are trying to relax or rest.

I wouldn't say this Black teen is entirely without blame here. The man probably asked him to turn down the music and instead he just cranked it up to spite him.

I think we can all assume the music in question wasn't Beethoven or Mozart.

After a fatal shooting over loud music, Oregon activists 'demand stronger policies that protect Black lives' (msn.com)

It was 4 am, so the gripe about loud music is totally legit. Of course, this guy murdered the kid in cold blood. No excuse for that. I could understand had he opted to shoot the radio/speakers.

I do love the comments from the mayor quoted in the link I posted: “Aidan by all accounts was merely being, living his life,” she said. “Now his life is gone. And with it comes yet another reminder of how deadly white privilege can be.”

She makes this is all about race. Nothing to do with the fact that the murderer is nothing more than that, a murderer. Had the kid been white, the murderer obviously would have instead offered to make him steak and eggs for breakfast. No, the guy was ready to kill, regardless. Mentally unhinged, or just a person without empathy, that is up to experts to decide.

Something tells me there was likely some sort of altercation before the shooting.

Like maybe an angry argument, the guy reached towards the other guy's speakers, and it got physical.

Some people don't like various kinds of music. Some people don't like music at certain times of day. It's not a lack of appreciation it's the desire to sleep.

My girlfriend puts on her rap music (which I hate), doesn't mean I'm going to kill her. Wanting sleep isn't justification for killing someone, that's victim blaming.

I was responding to someone who said I needed to open my mind and appreciate garbage.
