Denial automatically treated as valid, just like their fake story of an inside DNC leaker. This is really insane deep state conspiracy stuff.

Well he did release stolen personal emails. I imagine you’d feel different if they were your emails.

I'm aware that Assange is no longer wanted for rape in Sweden.

As for the USA allegations. the SCOTUS has already ruled when the New York Times published American TOP SECRET documents and "freedom of the press." The SCOTUS ruling on the Pentagon Papers.

I know a great deal about history, and know a great deal about Russian intelligence tactics and their efforts to undermine democracy in NATO countries. You apparently don't consider this possible and think it is more likely that our system is 100% bogus and corrupt, and will fake an entire intelligence analysis in order to implicate a foreign country and potentially the sitting president. This is an unprecedented situation and the fact that so many can casually dismiss it as bogus, simply because those accused say so is alarming.

You seem to be utterly cynical of the American system, even calling it a kleptocracrcy, which makes me wonder how you would describe Putin's Russia which is actually a kleptocracy.

Now that Sweden has given up on him, he faces certain Arrest and Extradition to the USA on Espionage Charges.

    Good for him.

    Hmm.... interesting...

If true, that would be 2 direct connections between the stolen emails and the Trump campaign..... This one, and the Guccifer/Stone/Bannon connection....

Too many coincidences for somebody who doesn't believe in them...

Another 15 pages to the Mueller report.... We are going to have to measure this thing by the pound, not by the page...

The left sure loved Assange when he was published classified US national security secrets, but publish a few emails that might be slightly embarrassing to a corrupt plutocrat like Clinton and suddenly it's lynching time.

I sure wouldn't want to think that the US government would go after Assange on false grounds, but given the leaked story a few weeks ago that the Justice Department might be trying to prepare an indictment, I'm less sure.

    "The Guardian has been told"
    "sources say"

This is the garbage that passes for news. Say whatever you want, attach anonymous "source" and confirmation bias does the rest!

You'd have been dead right about this in the case of Nixon. Oh wait...

And they say that yellow journalism was back in the day, everybody's clean and it can't happen here, everybody's clean and it can't happen here, now.

I recall his comment, but the accusation sounds absurd on it's face. I don't like it when publishers like Assange (or The Guardian, NYT, ect...) publish US classified information that damages our security, but that doesn't make them "hostile intelligence services."

Going down that road is a path to a far more limited version of "free speech" than what we currently have.

I don't know. The whole story about prosecuting Assange sounds ridiculous, but there was a story a few weeks ago that stated that very thing.

If someone stole your emails and another guy published them, wouldn’t you want them prosecuted?

For thievery, yeah.(And PS. Those indictments had been filed, but because they're Ruskies in Ruskie soil, good luck with that.). The proper kind of investigation, and then what this *thing* has turned into, is ridiculous.

Like, the whole world is probably like "Americans still care about 2016?" We look like a joke, to the rest of the world.

Sure, but if someone stole my emails and gave them to the New York Times and they published them, as angry as I would be with the NYT, I wouldn't have a legal leg to stand on, it would just be the guy who actually stole my emails.

You're not suggesting we should go after publishers who print leaks are you?

The irony of trusting anonymous sources in this case.

You won't have to wait much longer. Should I do so here or make a new thread to inform you?

Right, its not like reporting anonymous sources has ever benefited the Republic.
