MCCONNELL ON GREEN NEW DEAL: LET’S VOTE

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says he plans a floor vote on the Green New Deal resolution proposed by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and endorsed by many congressional Democrats. McConnell wants Senate Democrats to go on record on this radical proposal. He especially wants those running for president and those who may face tough reelection campaigns in 2020 to do so.

 

There's nothing to vote on. Cortez is writing it out on a bar napkin but is having a hard time trying to write out the $100,000,000,000,000 cost. Her red pen keeps running out of ink.

 

So here's the list. The end of all carbon based fuels. So, zero coal. zero NG, LNG, Zero oil. Zero gasoline, synthetic fuels, etc, I assume includes lubricants...

So let's just start with these. Zero coal. Suddenly 38% of US electricity goes off line. Zero NG, LNG.. 37% of US electricity goes off line. Zero Oil. 15% of all homes freeze in the winter. 11% of electricity goes off line. Zero gasoline.. 92% of all vehicles become unusable. Zero Diesel... All Trucking, all marine, and trans oceanic transit stops. All av gas jet fuel ends. All aviation stops. 94% of all rail traffic stops. (and most of the rest wont have sufficient power to continue running)

And we suddenly return back to the 1800s. Intensity on cutting down trees for fuel for heat will decimate US forests. Loss of trees will exacerbate CO2 absorption. The end of food production will lead to massive starvation and death.

These are the simple results of ms AOCs little project. Can you imagine the arrogance of the person who would force this onto her nation? And just for fun, what does "unwilling to work" mean? I mean, once we remove all of the energy, who will still be able to work?

 

I predict the Dems will filibuster their own "urgent-action" bill to keep it from coming to a vote.

 

Conclusion:
The left hates freedom and the prosperity it brings.

 

Exactly right. Oh, but not all people will be subject to this hate. It will require that only the "most necessary" of the political elite will still be able to enjoy all of their toys. That's the perniciousness of this kind of BS. And of course, ms AOC does, in fact, know this, and touts it non the less because she believes in her own righteous ignorance that she'd be included. Which is laughable.

 

I have noticed that after pushing out the New Green Deal that the verbiage has changed by those pushing it like AOC and others.

It is no longer Climate Change but Climate Crisis and Climate Chaos. That's propaganda for you.

 

Yeah, the leftist environmentalists are making sure the Demos hear it.

 

I am not at all surprised that proposing a bold strategy to meet the challenges of the 21st century is met with derision by the regressive right.

I have to agree there are way too many warm and fuzzies, in it, but it is a plan to transition to a virutally gridless green energy economy (virtually free energy) while rebuilding and modernizing the transportation infrastructure and addressing serious environmental challenges is something worthy of debate.

I notice that Trumpism's Make America Great again, doesn't have anything even remotely resembling a coherent plan to achieve it. Hell they can't even clearly define what "Great" means, although I grant you they have definitely lowered the qualification bar to the floor, so their dear leader can slither over it for his bigly wins.

Well here’s a question for Sen. Markey, who is the primary sponsor in the Senate: Why didn’t he need committee hearings or expert testimony to become a sponsor? Why didn’t he wait for a “true national debate” before putting his name on top of it?

If he’s satisfied this is a good idea, why not take advantage of the opportunity McConnell is offering and urge his colleagues to vote for the bill he’s sponsoring?

There will be a floor debate, after all. Isn’t he relishing the opportunity to take to the Senate floor and tell all of us what a great idea it is to eliminate air travel, fossil fuels and cows? Wouldn’t he like to explain the financing mechanism that envisions the federal government creating new banks that simply finance the entire boondoggle?......snip~
