This is laughable.....it was the Dems that began a horrible track record of personally attacking the character of nominees...Bork, Thomas,Alito, Kavenaugh...not to mentioned Garland was hardly the first person nomined not to get the Judgeship, or even a hearing...the Dems took that route during the Bush admin.

and name one person Trump put on the bench that isn't qualified? Frankly, if you don't like it...get mad at Reid for going Nuclear.

It also was the Dems that gave us the Biden Rule....in 92 and reaffirmed by Chucky in 2007,,,,you all complained and changed your tone, in 2016, and now the GOP did away with, so you want it back...just leftwing hypocrisy

The president doesn't submit a list. The president nominates one person. The Senate has no authority to give the president an approved list.

If Trump makes America great again and Putin owns Trump, I have to thank them both.

    Simple, really.

Which is my point. It doesn't really matter if the President is lame duck or not because it's a lifetime appoint vs. 4 or 8 years.

So far it seems that way. Biden has the advantage.

    What was he referring to?

The fact that Trump STILL did not ban flights from the UK even at that late date

And thus, the GOP has no reason to not seat a justice.

He better hope Collins, Murkowski, Romney and others are in tune with that move.

They don't. It's just sleazy. Guaranteed that the next time team D gets power, they will up the ante on the sleaze. Then team R will up the ante on the sleaze factor after that.

And the spirit of cooperation will slip further and further away.

All because the fringe makes the most noise, and convinces partisans that EVERYONE who is to the left/right of center, behaves that way. Nothing is further from the truth.

There was never going to be a filibuster. So it didn't really matter.
Without an actual filibuster, it only has always required 51 votes. The 60 votes that were needed was to end a filibuster.

I think people who are counting on Collins to vote "no" on the nominee need to read her statement very carefully. That's not what she said.

The USA is bound to fail. No country has gone on forever.
It might as be tRUMP that is the reason for it. That's his style. Fails at everything sooner or later.

They allowed for Americans to be repatriated. Did you not want Americans to return home?

He never said that they "can't" he said that they "won't" a monumental difference. You might not like it, but as President Valeri Jarret said after 2012 "Elections have consequences" we all know what she meant by that threat. Can you or anyone else that leans left say with a straight face that if the shoe was on the other foot that democrats would not scramble to appoint a judge in this situation? You know very well that they would. In fact, look at my next sentence:

If you recall it was the great Obama that nominated Merrick Garland on March 16th of an ELECTION YEAR can you imagine what a horrible act that was, and by a democrat no less. I can hardly believe he was so callous.

It does not matter. We have to do whatever it takes to stop this Christian fundamentalist authoritarian anti-Democratic Fascist regime. In fact, we have to oppose them until these power hungry traitors to the Constitution are defeated and gone.

    To depoliticize SCOTUS.
It may or may not be a good idea, but it would be constitutional.

    1) all dems have to do is stop politizing it....revert back to their pre-Bork days
    2) I don't think it would be because it takes away the Constitutional power of the President to nominate his/her own choice.

I don't have a side. I just find dems a little less repulsive than Trumpturds.

Mitch made up a rule in 2016 to avoid a hearing for Garland. Now he's throwing that rule out the window because it is no longer politically convenient.

Dems aren't complaining about the nuclear option. That had nothing to do with the fact that Garland didn't even get a hearing.
