My quarterly MediCare premium has gone over $400. Or $1,600 per year.
My Plan F supplemental has gone up to $3,000 per year.
And don't get me started :angered: on the pharmacy :steamed: plan that inflates out of pocket prices and hasn't covered anything for me yet. I'm advised it will be there when I require thousands of dollars worth of medicines. Minimally it should bargain my rescue asthma inhaler down, not up. Yes I ask my pharmacist to sell it to me without the insurance and I save money!

Thinking back to the birth of MediCare I have to wonder, has the promise been broken.

Yes I could choose a cheaper supplemental than a Plan F and face losing my home over a major surgery co-pays, living on hamburger helper and the like. So I chose Plan F.

I'm just thinking $4,600 a year plus pharmacy insurance and costs is a promise broken.
Should I say, "Thank you." for it?

Across an immense, unguarded, ethereal border, Canadians, cool and unsympathetic,
regard our America with envious eyes and slowly and surely draw their plans against us.

I don't know anything about Medicare and I'm too young to have to think about it. Parts of Medicare? It's all Greek to me.

But you could always go bankrupt and get Medicaid...

If I were in your situation I'd be looking for an HSA along with a direct pay clinic like this one in Kansas: https://atlas.md/wichita/.

And yes, if you can still be left destitute from additional expenses outside of what Medicare covers I'd say that is a failed program.

Where do you think you'd be without it?

Especially with the Trumpcare Bill that allows even HIGHER premiums for older people...

    Lesh DEAR :blowkiss:

    Question:
Has the promise of MediCare been violated?
Not should I be grateful for what crumbs there may be.

Similar to the Greatest State of California's promise of tuition free higher education.
They started by terming "tuition" as "fees" and now it is cheaper to be an out of state student at Arizona U.

    WTF is "DEAR" about?

Keep that crap up and it will be reported. You won't be missed.

So you're saying that Medicare is not adequately funded?

    I agree with you.

You're saying we need to allow Medicare to negotiate for better drug prices?

    I agree with that too.

I'm asking if you understand where you'd be WITHOUT Medicare...
