Meet the 'Guardians' — Members of the U.S. Space Force

Vice President Mike Pence announced yesterday that, henceforth, members of the U.S. Space Force would be known as “Guardians.”

“It is my honor, on behalf of the president of the United States, to announce that henceforth the men and women of the United States Space Force will be known as guardians,” Pence said at the White House. “Soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines and guardians will be defending our nation for generations to come.”

Very nice, very sci-fi. But why “Guardians”?

“Guardians is a name with a long history in space operations, tracing back to the original command motto of Air Force Space Command in 1983, ‘Guardians of the High Frontier,'” the Space Force explained on Friday.

“The name Guardians connects our proud heritage and culture to the important mission we execute 24/7, protecting the people and interest of the U.S. and its allies.”

The Space Force celebrated its 1st anniversary this week. It’s an important milestone. It’s mission to protect us and our allies interests in outer space can not be under estimated. It also protects our infrastructure from EMP be they solar or nuclear in origin and they will be the lead force in cyberspace security a need made clear this week.

 

This force will keep our technological edge going into the future as we meet our needs, protect our assets in space, and develop space for its economic potential for America.

Today, after a yearlong process that produced hundreds of submissions and research involving space professionals and members of the general public, we can finally share with you the name by which we will be known: Guardians.

I expressed my agreement with the "creation" of the Space Force right when the Trumpocity announced it and still support it vigorously.
The name " Guardians" is dispointing to me because it invokes a passive defensive posture. Space Force should project an image of a lethal force that is capable of aggression in the quest for peace. I know it sounds contradictory but you cannot be a guardian with the philosophy mambo pamby attitudes. Isn't that what we accuse liberals and peace Freaks of?

 

Why not just go all the way ...

Trump has made a laughing stock of the nation and our military.

 

In truth this is the future of this nation and the world . . . and any huge investment in living, working, and populating the great yonder was inevitably also going to include some sort of permanent military presence. Also our outraged leftists would have been perfectly fine with this had it been Barack Obama or the soon to be Joe Biden Commander-in-Thief proposing it instead of Trump.

 

Was the Air Force a laughing stock of the military? Don’t worry. Biden and Harris are free to disband it and restore respect to our military, because Democrats are so GOOD at that. Maybe we need more Trans in dresses leading the troops on the front lines in the ME!! A healthy amount of 130lb female Seals will improve the military too. Because its just not “fair” that women 1/2 the size of most Seals shouldnt be standing side by side with them.

I can't believe how liberals make fun of something that we not only were doing but is going to be needed even more in the future.
We are going to need to protect satellites a lot more than we need tanks.

Trump once again showed how forward thinking he is and the left, well they aren't.

All the space stuff was becoming too much for the air force to handle and it will do nothing but get busier up there so this was a very wise creation and it makes way more sense than the creation of the marines, something the army was doing just fine with.

 

Yes, trump walks on water, we know.

 

There is nothing wrong with using Guardians. I get it. But I was responding to the people making fun of it. Here is a small sampling.

NASA is a civilian organization and should stay that way.

 

I know that. Until a few years I was subscribing to Air Force Times and and still get Afterburner for retired personnel. So I did keep up on developments.

We will see and way after we on this forum are long gone we will likely se a Space Marine branch of our upper and outer Frontier Space Force.
So we are taking the proverbial baby steps heading for outer space.

 

Guardians just sounds too Hollywood at this point.
