Hello PF members, I hope you all have a happy Memorial Day. But...remember...it isn't Veteran's Day, so no need to thank a veteran for their service. Most veterans will be in a state of remembrance. Memorial Day is a sad day for me, but I try to keep it happy by doing the usual activities. I hope yours is happy too.
I visited my wife’s uncle’s grave. PFC Allen Sills gave up his life as a POW following the Bataan Death March on 5/30/1942. My 87 year old MIL is his only surviving sibling.

I don't have any sad stories about veterans. My dad was in Vietnam but only tells me funny ones. My whole family has been in the military it seems like but they are all doing just fine. I have a cousin that went to Iraq and he signed up for army infantry or something but he never says anything bad about it to me. So all I have to go on is my love of history and knowledge of wars, nothing personal..... but that's enough for me to give thanks every day when I see our great Flag flying when I drive to work.
