I am using the CBS news link to watch the testimony live: https://www.cbsnews.com/

And I am creating this thread for those who are watching the testimony live. Republicans attempted to delay the testimony by noting that testimony and evidence is supposed to be presented more than 24 hours ahead of time. That rule was set aside by the Democrats and the testimony proceeds currently.

Mr. Cummings is given his opening statement. Mr. Cummings is frank about weighing the credibility of Mr. Cohen. It is up to each and every American person to make their own judgments regarding his credibility.

This is Michael Cohen. Trump personal attorney and fixer for nearly a decade. The man who said he would take a bullet for Trump. And now he will reportedly testify and claim that Trump was a "con man," a "racist," a "cheat," and that Trump committed criminal acts while President.

But for those who want to jump and dismiss Mr. Cohen, ask yourself this question: If Cohen is so terrible, why did Trump hire him in the first place?

So Cohen withheld his testimony and documents from the committee AGAINST the rules so that committee staff could review and prepare and Cummings is going to allow it to continue.

If Trump is so terrible why did Cohen work for him?

He also spoke about Russia in the opening statement, one of the topics that was not permitted during this open hearing. Cummings has made an adjustment to allow for questions regarding the information in the written statement regarding Russia and related issue.

Given the threats launched against Cohen from Trump and a congressman last night, no.

Jim Jordan has launched an aggressive attack against Cohen and argued that the whole thing was basically orchestrated by the Clintons to get at Trump.

But isn’t it a liiiiiiitttle weird that Republicans are so eager to brand Cohen as a liar when he was the president’s attorney and the lies were to protect the president?

They don't have to brand him as a liar. He is a convicted felon for lying.

What does that have to do with Cohen withholding his testimony and documents from the committee and Cummings allow the hearing to move forward against the rules? Don't you want the committee to be able to fully and completely question Cohen on his allegations.

Trump tweeted earlier today that Cohen is lying in order to reduce his prison time. This is … nonsensical, because false testimony to Cohen would in no way lessen his legal liability. Cummings addresses this directly in his opening statement, saying he will refer Cohen to the Department of Justice for further prosecution if he lies today

"In his way he was telling me to lie". LOL, so Cohen doesn't even need to be told to lie.

Delaying Cohen's testimony further will endanger him and his family further.

LOL, he is going to prison soon. How will that affect his family?

Michael Cohen pledging to tell truth is like W. C. Fields promising to be sober. Regardless of your politics, what Cohen is doing will forever damage the notion of attorney/client privilege. Cohen is a sad man, caught in lies and self-dealing, hoping to win favor with Trump haters.

Just a statement for show. If you think Cummings will refer him to the DOJ you are only fooling yourself.

There is also a good likelihood that Cohen will be left with no
other option othen than to pled the 5th.Because he ain't smart enough
to avoid further damning testimony. He could easily entrap himself
further and get more prison time.
