Let's try this. You have one teacher and two study groups to merge into one for private sessions. One is a group of 20 the other a group of 5. To prevent the group of 20 from dictating the material to be covered you give each of the group of 5, 5 votes each as to what subjects should be reviewed. Do you think this is fair? Why? That's what the electoral college does, gives people in states like north and south Dakota and Alaska over 5 times as many electoral votes/person as compared to California and the big winner is Wyoming with almost 7 times any many.

This is a gross exaggeration of reality since the "7 times as many" equates to about one electoral vote per 177,000 people. And it isn't 7 times as much, it's only 3.6 times as much. The solution is simple, but of course California won't do this because the northern part of the state might actually vote Republican: split into two or more states. This would increase the electoral votes of the combined two states by two, since the extra state would get two more senators. But then if the northern part of the state voted Republican, that would nullify the extra electoral votes, wouldn't it?

What would be easy is one person one vote. Very democratic that.

Not so easy since no state can be deprived of its representation without its consent, meaning it wouldn't take 34 states to ratify an amendment, it would take all 50.

I disagree. Western society was much much freer in the late 19th and early 20th centuries before regulation, taxation, and federal redistribution programs came to dominate everyone's lives. Nothing has ever been quite as oppressive and murderous as communism, but Alexis de Tocqueville warned about the dangers of being clothed and choked by regulations to the point that you can't even move your body without government approval. Just the index to the Code of Federal Regulations now runs to over a thousand pages. This is not freedom, this is the regulatory state run amok.

Now that's just silly. Photography wasn't perfected until 1839, more than 50 years after the Revolutionary War, and that's obviously a Civil War era uniform.

Yes, what do we care what that pantywaist Macron thinks? Or that self-hating Merkel thinks? Or that public-defying Theresa May thinks? Duda (Poland) and Orban (Hungary) love Trump.
