And RT is propaganda just like the NYT is propaganda, or Washington Post or any other mainstream media source.

But it's just different than the other, and I like it. I suppose my view is wider than yours. I like my propaganda more in accordance with reality.

Media outlets are about sensationalizing the 'news' in order to make profit or reach a goal.

RT is a foreign anti-American outlet and has no protection from being regulated by American law.

I've been reading it for years and have not seen any anti-American sentiment, at all.

I have seen a lot of pro-Russian spin, but I'm sophisticated enough to have expected it.

RT is 100% funded by the Kremlin.

its senior staff is chosen by the Kremlin.

not so with the NY Times or Washington Post.

Anyone in the US that works with or for or is affiliated with RT should, by law, have to register as a foreign agent.

This is silly. So should the BBC and the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation)...both of which are funded by their respective federal governments, also be registered as 'foreign agents'?
What about ALL the other government-run/paid for news services around the world?
All this is going to do is get Russia to do the same thing for American newscasters like PBS (because they get money from the federal government). And may start a wave of this nonsense as countries start banning/limiting other, government paid for news services to their countries.

Just don't let RT personnel into any areas that are important to national security. Period.

Only the employees of companies who are defined by Congress as active "agents" of countries inimitable to us (Russia, Iran, North Korea, Syria, etc.) should have their employees register. The Canucks and the Brits are the good guys, PT78.

    We are a free country.
Our Airwaves/media Are important to National Security.

    And in answer to many..

There is NO serious criticism of the Govt in Russia.
ALL the major media are state owned, and work for Putin's Purpose: Or else.
Many who had objected, have been killed, and No murder of any Putin opponent has been solved. Miraculous!

    It's a Dictatorship/Mafia family with one purpose.

In the West, no matter who is leader, they get Lambasted by the press.
That can't happen in the PU-SSR.

It is their/his purpose to put the West in Chaos and weaken the alliance.

His method are those media outlets, and Unwitting (amplifiers) Conspiracy Clowns, and fringers on both poles, who'll bite on anything anti-Gov. or anti-other side. So they'll pump ie, BOTH BLM and Alt-Righters into a fight, etc. Making Americans distrust their gov is Numero Uno.

The 50 IQ Conspiracy Morons (read back) don't know they're finally participants in a real one!
All the wackos are coming out for this one.

Funding means precious little. The CIA and Deep State have tremendous influence over what is published, or not published, in the mainstream media.

Should that apply equally to Turkish, Saudi or Israeli interests?

Yes, anyone who doesn't think that the US Government does not manipulate what we "need" to know and when we need to know is at least naive .

As far back as the Katyn massacred, the US aided in hiding the fact that the Soviets massacred more than 22,000 Polish officers & prisoners, not the Germans.

"US 'helped Russia cover up Second World War Katyn Forest massacre'"
    http://www.independent.co.uk/life-s...-world-war-katyn-forest-massacre-8122111.html

EXCERPT "The US deliberately helped Russia cover up one of its most infamous Second World War atrocities to gain favour with Stalin, new documents suggest.

More than 22,000 captured Polish officers and other prisoners were systematically murdered in the Katyn forest on the western edge of Russia in 1940.
Documents now released lend weight to the belief that suppression within the highest levels of the US government helped cover up Soviet guilt.

The evidence is among about 1,000 pages of newly declassified documents that the United States National Archives is releasing and putting online. Historians who saw the material days before the official release described it as important and shared some highlights."CONTINUED

Just because RT is funded by the Russian government doesn't mean that RT is any more government controlled than US MSM.

Nonsense, Eleuthera. Registration of foreign agents like RT is now inevitable. Any agents working for them should be registering. Michael Flynn and Paul Manafort will be going to jail in part because they did not register as agents of Turkey or Ukraine.

We lost our free press under Clinton when he enabled six corporations to buy up all the MSM. These are the same corporations that own Washington, so what they print is one and the same with Washington's lies. The staffs are not considered journalists, they are considered stenographers since they can only write that which is acceptable to the editors. I stopped reading them when their lies made me sick to my stomach... literally.

What Washington did is not going to affect RT or Sputnik, since there are no alternative news outlets, but it will affect the Americans working for them... and that was Washington's intent. Russia is retaliating by having any media or news outlet in Russia owned by citizens of a foreign nation, register as foreign agents. This will affect CNN, Voice of America, Voice of the EU and many, many others.

Like everything else Washington does, it will end up benefiting Russia.

Does this mean that lobbyists of foreign nations are now considered foreign agents, or only lobbyists of certain nations depending on Washington's whim? I say this because the biggest criminals right now would be the Ukrainian mafias, and they have quite a few politicians in their pockets... but no one's going after them.

I would like to predict the future here Jake, by using the past as a reference. Most foreign agents will not be required to register, no matter what the law says. The US is famous for its selective enforcement of the law.

The Russians are being demonized for a reason. They are the enemy du jour for quite a few years now, and the public has been conditioned to think that way.

Some of the other foreign agents who will NEVER be required to register are those from Turkey (Sibel Edmonds demonstrates that in her short period of employment with the FBI), Israel, Saudi Arabia (with whom the Bush family has done business for many years), and a host of other "approved" foreign governments with significant influence in congress.

FARA is usually ignored. Laws should not be ignored.
