Conservatives only want to impose their values on those who impose their values on others.

    (in this situation)

I see, so human fetuses are comparable to animals.

Oh, and since they are trying to take away your rights, you care. But if it was someone else's rights and it didn't affect you personally, you wouldn't care.

Now you can see why Slavery went on for so long...

Or maybe you only care about freedom to voice opinions, and not freedom to life.

(Of course there are no other rights possible without the right to LIFE )

    But why?
What purpose does judging another, for any reason fulfill?

I do not like when people try to impose their values on me.

But people who oppose abortion want to impose their values on others. Many women would resent such rules.

I believe most sins can not be prohibited by laws of the state.

So do people who support Abortion.

It was the same during Slavery; the slave-owning South was complaining about the North trying to impose their values on them.

When someone slights me, I generally answer in kind.

If you were inside a giant womb, would you have a different opinion on this?

A disincentive for who? The one who already did the act.

For some, who may have some guilt about having committed an act and gets punished it may have some effect.
But if one doesn't see the reason for the act being wrong, it's likely not going to be a great motivator.

We have to agree to disagree on this issue.

I can not accept anyone imposing their values on me. Most women would not like values to be imposed on them.

Most Americans believe in G-d, yet they would be against imposing a legal punishment on those who preach Atheism.

OK, I am guilty of that also. Especially on this website.

But generally, I do so to show just how the slight is seen for the one doing the original slighting.

But judging someone isn't really answering in kind, is it? Unless your goal is to show how silly it is to judge someone else. Because we all have our faults that can always be judged negatively.

Isn't it true you are not a woman? Why care?

Why care about the 9 month inconvenience of a woman more than the life of a fetus.

Definitely not. It is not my issue. My opinion is worth very little -- I am not a lawmaker, I am not a public influencer.

For me, much much more important issues are the ones affecting me directly.

Future ones who are considering doing the act.

    It's the same with stealing.

Punishment has been going on for millenia.
    Stealing hasn't stopped.

Murdering has been punished, even with the death penalty. But murder hasn't stopped.
Now, I'm not sayin we let murderers walk free, there are always those that need to be removed from society.

I am a believer in positive reinforcement over negative reinforcement. For those that are not hardened to always just do wrong.

Oh, so does that mean we should stop punishing for stealing?

    No, of course not.

What did you have in mind?
You mean something like Universal Basic Income, except persons involved in Abortion won't get it?

How about a society that starts valuing motherhood?

Well of course but they can still feel pain and probably don't want to die.

They can't feel pain and don't know what dying is...they don't know what anything is because they haven't been born yet..

LOL, Just saw this...how hilarious ….we should "start" valuing motherhood ?? Uh, most people do....EXCEPT for those who denigrate motherhood by calling 9 months of growing a human while her body is being permanently damaged an "inconvenience".

Yup, some call what mothers do an "inconvenience" even though some risk their lives in pregnancy and suffer many ill effects, some permanent....

But to those who don't value motherhood it's merely an inconvenience....

Anyone who believes that anyone is an authority on moral ethics, is someone I want nothing to do with. That’s what authoritarianism is. People need to think for themselves.
