The corporate media in Venezuela is like Fox News on steroids. They call the president a monkey instead of just dog whistling like Fox did with Obama. Moreover, a prominant Venezuelan newspaper, "El Universal (2/17/19) published an op-ed, headlined 'Venezuelan Scenarios,' that positively contemplates the outcomes of a US invasion of Venezuela." There's Far More Diversity in Venezuela's 'Muzzled' Media Than in U.S. Corporate Press - FAIR.org Time (4/16/19) joined in on the corporate media’s literary fad of fictionalized accounts of the Venezuelan crisis. An AGB Nielsen study shows that the privately owned Venevision dominates Venezuela’s television news market. El Universal (2/17/19) published an op-ed, headlined “Venezuelan Scenarios,” that positively contemplates the outcomes of a US invasion of Venezuela.
I have no idea about this. The only time I visited Venezuela was prior to the Chavez debacle. It was a great place. Caracas was high enough in elevation to avoid the tropical heat making the weather spectacular. It had poverty like any other country and the traffic laws were not enforced making driving a hair raising experience. But overall it was nice country and a nice place to live. it is hard for me to imagine that the news coming from Venezuela is all true. I watch it with interest. I hope they can return to democracy. It has been a dictatorship for quite a while.
The country has since collapsed. Let's try to be realistic. https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/resources/the-world-factbook/geos/ve.html
Trump's Sanctions Make Economic Recovery in Venezuela Nearly Impossible - The Nation Ken Silverstein reports:
Excellent strategy. I hope it fails, and Maduro stays. Venezuela has the government it deserves. Same goes for Iran, and the psycho mullahs who run that trash heap.
That's cute. I have actually been to Venezuela. You want me change the opinions I gathered with my own eyes because of a fact book. Give me a break.
The American media does operate in lock-step. All left-wing. All socialist. Anti-religion. Anti-capitalism. Anti-traditional American values.
The media are large corporations, which are part of even larger conglomerates. Their business model is revenue from advertisers. The same corporations that buy our elections and employ or re-employ regulators, lawmakers, and beaurocrats in Washington. The media caters to an affluent audience, which raises advertising raites. These are the uncontroversial free market assumptions. Hence the following quote by The New York Times: A system of exploitation of markets and resources.
Yes, because the 97%-leftist media bought the election of right-winger Donald Trump, who spent significantly less advertising dollars than left-wing-darling Hillary Clinton did. That makes perfect sense.
Donald Trump Rode $5 Billion in Free Media to the White House TheStreet Like MSNBC covering Trump's empty podium while ignoring a jam packed Bernie rally. CBS CEO Leslie Moonves on Donald Trump: "It May Not Be Good for America, but It's Good For CBS" - The Hollywood Reporter The media attacks Trump from the Right. For not being hawkish enough and for embarressing America with his abnoxious Tweets. They like his economic policies. And the only time Trump gets positive media coverage is when he's trying to force regime change or if he's bombing another country.
