Yeah, he’s too old…. But he should be out there, spreading his message. Sadly, the frauds and hateful ones like al sharpton, kapernick are the ones leading blacks, spreading hate and inciting racial tensions.

Well, just about everything coming out of this current administration is indeed wrapped up in Socialist/Marxist/Communist ideology and policy.

I look forward to your examples.

Edit: Don’t get me wrong, I’d be pretty stoked if this were true, but it isn’t.

given i believe the current democratic party’s use of racism to divide and drive policy is extremely harmful (they even seek to bypass rule of law, rittenhouse as prime example), i would consider it. It would depend on who the republican candidate is and ideally have a red congress.

but i really believe that this movement of making everything about race is one of the most serious issues facing america. I would support a democratic leader who will seek to end it…as a black man. Obama lacked the courage..

we need to get to a point where we look at each other as fellow americans, respect the flag, stop using racism to explain everything, stop labeling every conservative opponent racist and stop using race to drive policy.

That statement has become nothing more than the standard Right wing sound bite.

I’m not fan of Sharpton, but what has Kapernick done to spread hate?

You kidding me? He defends terrorists when we kill them, he wears socks with cops depicted as pigs, he compares nfl to plantation, he calls everyone he disagrees with white supremacists, he hates America and the flag. Just look at his latest tweet on rittenhouse verdict, claiming it was white supremacy. All he does is attempt to divide and spread hatred. He also seems dumb, nothing like freeman. Maybe that’s his problem, he is a dumb person who hasn’t educated himself on subjects, even basic history

Guess I haven’t kept up with him since his protesting a few years ago. Don’t feel much like looking through his Twitter. Have any links to particularly grievous statements of his?

Yeah this is hate and clearly comes from a dumb person who doesn’t understand basics of judicial system and rule of law. The below is extremely divisive and nothing but hate. Morgan freeman would puke reading this.

We just witnessed a system built on white supremacy validate the terroristic acts of a white supremacist. This only further validates the need to abolish our current system. White supremacy cannot be reformed.

There is a difference between being realistic about political issues, and people who scream they would like to blow up the White House because someone they don't like is in it.

Personally, entertainers are just that, and their opinion has no more weight then others people's. He at least presents his opinions reasonably and without the screeching.

While I would certainly agree that our judicial system was built on and perpetuates white supremacy; I’d agree this isn’t the greatest of takes.

Also as a proponent of restorative justice I can’t agree with that last sentence in the slightest.

Another ancient old man. He would be 87 years old in 2024. The surprising thing is there are 7 members of congress older than him. What is it with the American infatuation with electing old people.

i would say judicial system favours people with power, influence and money. It’s not about race. OJ simpson got himself out of a bad situation cause he could afford an all star legal team, which somehow was able to get him off by using racism to outweigh the abudance of evidence pointing at OJ.

poor white and blacks are at a disadvantage. Now tell me where our criminal system favours whites, all i see today is an attempt to weaponize doj against white conservatives.

This a bit off topic given the opening post, but disproportionate sentencing outcomes is a pretty solid indicator of issues with our justice system.
Of course there will always be outliers. Wealth has a good way of tipping the scales no matter who you are.

the problem is that people take stats out of context.

first, we need to analyze crime. I looked at fbi statistics and blacks commit violent crime at much higher rates than whites. Take for example homicide, blacks commit 50% of the homicide yet are only 13% of population. Similar stats can be seen for other violent offenses..

so i would expect blacks to serve longer sentences, on average.

but let’s compare sentencing for same offense. It’s not as simple, you have to take repeat offenses into account. Some will compare a 1st offender white man vs a repeat offender black man. Repeat offenders get harsher sentencing..

We also need to take money out of the equation to be able to explain disparities as solely based on race. You can’t compare a poor black vs rich white, compare poor white vs poor black and rich white vs rich black. Just gave you an example of how OJ was able to game the system..

So… before we determine if race is a factor we need to normalize the data by repeat offenses, wealth, type of crime and create a table. You cannot compare a poor black man who has been convicted of robbery 5 times vs a rich white dude convicted of robbery once. Compare the black man with a poor white man who has committed robbery 5 times and compare the white man with a rich black man convicted of robbery once.

once you normalize the data in an objective manner, then we can draw conclusions

But do we just entirely ignore the fact that black people are more likely to commit crimes than white people?

Unless one thinks that black people are just more inclined to commit crimes, then there is something in our system that is causing that disparate outcome.

this has nothing to do with criminal justice system. We shouldn't be 'softer' on blacks because they commit more crime.

This is an entirely different matter, why blacks commit more violent crime is not solvable by criminal justice system. It's toxic culture in inner cities (seduced into gang life, bad parenting), lack of incentives to get out of the gang life and welfare, not getting an education, lack of policing etc...

If you improve the culture, strengthen families, this will drastically improve the situation. How do kids turn to crime? Blacks are not just born to commit crime, they learn from their friends and parents. It's a cycle that is hard to get out of. If you are born to a gangbanger, a drug addict, a lifelong criminal and all our friends are gangsters, what are your chances? not great. If your parents early on instill right values, make you get an education, guide you to stay away from other gangsters, you have a shot. Corporate America and universities are looking for qualified black people, not gangsters who then blame criminal justice system for their criminal behaviors.

of course, people like you or at least many of the leftists will tell me NO, Mike, it's white supremacy that is responsible for the crime. Our leaders need to do better.... blaming white supremacy and criminal justice system for what parents are doing and what kids are choosing to engage in, is never going to solve this problem. You don't solve problems by not understanding or addressing the problems...

Did you really just say people take stats out of context then immediately throw out 13/50?

Please cite where the article I linked did not account for factors such as the ones you mentioned here.
