Saudi Arabia is building a new solar power plant in Jordan and electricity will cost about 7 1/2 cents per kilowatt hour. Dubai is building a solar hospital in Jordan.

You don't shut the whole thing down for days. This is about the fuel to run each not the routine maintenance they both allow for. How many times last year did the local coal fired plant run out of coal? What happens when a solar plant does for several days as can routinely occur?

No you don't and have no idea what that tank holds or if jtbjs even in a coal oil plant.

We're not talking maintence here we are talking fuel to run the plant.

The mirrors track the Sun so you get far more than 6-8hrs of energy per day. The power is stored as heat in huge vats of salt and converted to energy by the same method as during the day ie steam turbines. It's all in the articles posted in this thread, try reading them before you ask any further questions as this will stop you looking quite so ignorant.

Just proves Trump and the rest of his Republican hood rats aren't really interested in jobs. They're interested in taking care of their donors in the fossil fuel industry, by using jobs as their false narrative.

Trump and his band of mafia goons in the administration smell a half a trillion dollars worth of oil in the Russian Kara sea. That's why we are being left behind.

FULL sunlight which you do not get when the sun is low in the horizon and see above about mass storage. Where does the electricity come from to create the excess power you are going to store? What happens the next day when it is cloudy and you used yiur six hours of storage last night?

we are talking about shut downs in general no matter what kind of reason.

If an aircraft manages to get between the mirror and it's focal point 2 or 3 feet away then the Sun's magnified rays are the least of their problems.

The plant produces enough heat to generate electricity all day with enough left to heat up huge vats of salt to around 400 celcius. This is used to turn water into steam and generate electricity in turbines long after dark. Electricity is not stored, heat is.
We are talking about a plant in Morocco where there is very little cloud cover. Please Google the plant to cure your ignorance in future as I am tiring of repeating myself for the sake of people who refuse to understand how it works.

No were are talking the fuel to run them solar versus coal. Both have routine maintenece and you don't havr to shut down the entire plants to conduct that.

The Regressives are in power and we can't expect anything positive from them. They'd rather hand-dig coal mines, burning the coal and producing methyl mercury for our rivers and streams, over solar and wind energy. While chanting "We're number 1." At what, idiocy?

Yes I understand the question is when you are generating heat for on demand use during the day how do you generate for storage? You have to build in a huge over capacity. That is a huge cost which sits idle most of the day. You have to generat at the least double the heat yiu need to supply current needs.

A unique case but still has to supply power when the sun gets low or not at all. Scroll back and read how that affected the plant in the Netherlands in my cite. A July where the sun provided 26% less sunlight than expected.

And they are more advanced than all of Texas.
What does size have to do with it?

Since it is the most used fuel at the moment, it is the fuel of today. No one who understands that, however, thinks that the companies who have historically provided us our fuel should not also be researching and developing nexgen technology. Least of all themselves.

The objection is strictly and only the batsht crazy leftists who force change in advance of actual change, and harm economies to bring about the utopian notions of what such advances should be ready for public consumption.

    Witness CAFE standards.

Everything. Grow up and study business to understand. For example no matter how advanced they are we could eliminate them in a minute. So how advanced are they when they can't defend themselves?

And during those hours how many where the sun is high enough to provide full sun light, that drops dramatic as the sun lowers and the rays have to pass through more and more of the atmosphere.
