What is a 'basic revolver'? What distinction do you make between, say, Taurus's 8 shot .357mag revolver and Glock's 6 shot .45acp semi-auto pistol?

    Can I have a 12 shot revolver?

What about pump actions with detatchable mags?

How are you defining 'assault rifle'? Can I have a hunting rifle with a 3 round magazine? Does it get taken away if some incel makes his own 'big clip' for it and shoots up his school? What if he shoots up his school with a several 'basic revolvers'?

I tossed my "compromise" a few weeks back but it wasnt well received by either side.

I actually like some of the basic ideas in the OP, at least there is a starting point.

I suggested 20 round mags, enhancing background checks and that I'd be fine with fingerprinting.

There was some other stuff in my post it pissed off everybody but I forget what it was now.

that "bolt action" I believe is a mini14. In simple terms that means it's an AR with a wooden handle.

The only fundamental difference between those two in the picture are they at 1 is a cute hunting rifle and the other is a mean black "assault ifle.

Lol. Where do you see a bolt action of any kind? Both are the Ruger 10/22. It's a plinster gun used primarily for target practice and small game. Both takes the same magazines, operate the same way, and use the same caliber. The only difference is the furniture.

.45 is a common pistol caliber that has been used since WWI. In fact, many would say that it's obsolete because of better ammunition today. What do you have against it?

If one cannot even identify and differentiate between a bolt-action rifle, and a semi-automatic rifle, they have no business dictating what sort of firearms the public of the united states does and does not need.

The forty-five caliber has been in existence and in standard use for over one hundred and forty seven years now. It is far too old to be objected to.

You do know that 45 caliber also comes in revolvers right? Yet you were just saying you're fine with revolvers?

And umm...yeah...its "mags" or "magazines" not "clips"

You clearly know nothing about guns.

No one needs to know the correct terminology. We all know what he meant.

This is the problem with gun control debates, any gun debate, the big picture is drowned out by small stuff, variations of the proposal...250 million views of gun control will never get a resolution. People should be far more flexible and tolerant.

Exactly, put your hand up with a proposal for any gun control in USA and you get that hand shot off.

    No, because it was contradictory.

And honestly, imagine trying to have a debate on a subject you know nothing about, not only will you lose, but you'll look stupid doing it.

If one is going to talk guns and call for their banning then maybe one should know what the hell they're talking about?

And saying that people should be allowed revolvers while also saying that people don't need 45 caliber, when revolvers come in that caliber shows a very distinct lack of knowledge to the point that they don't actually know what the hell they're talking about, they're just spouting propaganda spoonfed to them. In other words they're being scared by propagandists for no good reason other than to push an agenda.

So you think poster cannot participate unless they are fully educated in all aspects of gun control and guns themselves. So freedom of speech is conditional for you?

If we are discussing something I hold near and dear to me that someone is trying to take away, you better believe I demand they be educated on the topic. I am tired of people who don't know what they are talking about trying to tell me what is right and wrong.

Oh, and see my long post on the first page where I explain everything, I didn't leave it where you seem to imply I left it (i.e. by calling him a troll and doing nothing more).

If one cannot even get the basic terminology correct, they have no business partaking in the discussion of telling others what they do and do not need.

Are you dictating as a moderator? So free speech is conditional?

You are free to spout anything you damn well please, no matter how inane. However, I am free to call you out, that is how free speech works.

Great I’m glad you clarified that. You seem annoyed. Touch a nerve of a controller and that’s the result

Imagine actually being triggered over the fact that someone called someone else out for being wrong.

Yup, these were the biggest issues that I was going to point out, especially the due process issue.

However, I honestly believe that there is no compromising with such gun grabbers. Look at what's going on in Virginia right now, for example. That is what will happen nationwide if Democrats gain control of the federal government again.
