My sincere belief: VP Harris should have taken a knee during the National Anthem at inauguration.

We have seen these past few years a number of athletes and prominent figures -- elected officials, chiefs of police -- "take a knee" both during the playing of the National Anthem, and at other times to signify solidarity with those who are of the opinion that black folks are subjected to disproportionate brutality by the police in the conduct of their responsibilities. And our new vice president has been one of the most vocal supporters of this movement, and has in fact taken a knee herself. I believe that standing with reverence as she did yesterday -- listening to a white performer no less -- was at the minimum inconsistent with her stated beliefs and objectives. What a powerful statement she could have made on the global stage! Disappointing to see she neglected to stand against police violence -- a singular opportunity squandered during a historic moment being sworn in as the first black female vice president. That is nothing if not ironic.

Anyone whose "sincere beliefs" involve something started by a former Wolfpack quarterback, can safely be ignored.

    Up your game.

You are incorrect. Opinions and beliefs section is the perfect place for humor. The trouble with political jokes is that sometimes they get elected!

Yep, the hypocrisy is funny. Rest assured when the time for hollow virtue signaling leads to political currency, it will occur. When it depletes political currency it will not occur. That is how their deranged, effeminated, brainwashed, rotted minds work. Inconsistent, hypocritical scumbags.

Not sure to whom you are referring. Can you please be more specific? Second, will you agree that there is a distinction between bad cops and good cops? Bad cops -- that is any officer who exceeds the authority of his/her office and/or violates his/her oath should be protested -- by peaceable assembly as guaranteed in the First Amendment -- and fired, prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, etc.. Good cops -- that is any officer who faithfully executes his/her sworn duty -- should not be protested if said good cop has been put in the unfortunate situation by a criminal to deploy justified lawful force in the conduct of his/her duties as a sworn peace officer. I think that distinction is one that is very often missing in these "debates" about police brutality, and in the subsequent civil insurrections that often result.

I was responding to your "sincere" belief, did you already forget what that was?

"will you agree that there is a distinction between bad cops and good cops?"

the term "bad cops" makes that clear does it not?

the cops Trump supporters killed and assaulted at the capital were "good cops"

My sincere belief is that Mrs. Harris -- being consistent with her stated positions w/r/t racial justice -- squandered a singular opportunity before the world stage to make a powerful statement, but instead chose to perpetuate the status quo. I did not forget, no.

So we agree that there is a distinction. That is really good, because far too many good cops have been protested. I'm happy that you will join me in making sure people understand the difference going forward so we can avoid the millions of dollars in property damage, violence, and injury that usually accompanies mostly peaceful protesting.

I assume so. I don't know the specifics of their backgrounds, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise. Likewise, I'm sure you'll agree that most of the officers who have had bricks thrown at them, commercial fireworks launched at them, and have suffered all manner of physical assaults from mostly peaceful protesters around the country this summer, and who were reviled by the media and many politicians are also good cops.

oh, so this is not what you meant then

"My sincere belief: VP Harris should have taken a knee during the National Anthem at inauguration."

yes, we agree, good cops should be praised, Trump should of spoke out against the cop killing at the Capital and lowered the flag

but we also need to treat bad cops like the criminals they are, good cops need to protect us from bad cops, not just stand there and watch them kill or assault people for no reason, they need to arrest them on the spot, same as any other criminal doing those things

I believe to be consistent with her stated beliefs, she should have taken a knee. Not doing so signals tacit approval of the policies she claims to oppose and of the system she claims is ststemically racist. IOW, her principles.
