Fred, the sheep with teeth, is ...

  1. A lefty, maybe communist, because he thinks Trump is a moron with a stupid haircut

  2. a right winger because he thinks H Clinton is a thick pillock who should be locked up

  3. An especially handsome chap who dislikes idiots regardless of who they are or what they support

  4. A sarcastic sod but can be quite funny from time to time

  5. A bloody Muslim - ban him from the states

I dislike Trump because he's an idiot so I'm accused of being a lefty.
I dislike Clinton because she's an idiot so I'm accused of being a right wing Trump supporter.

The issue is narrow minded brainless cretins who can't see past their own political opinions, assuming anyone who doesn't like their preferred political fool must be on the opposite side, not even giving a thought to the possibility their pal is a bloody idiot, all regardless of the evidence proving that to be true.

Clinton should very clearly be locked up for her serious mishandling of state secrets, as trump should be locked up for the same.
Both are totally unsuitable to run a corner shop, much less a country but both have die hard supporters who must be even bigger idiots than their idols because it's clear their pal is a useless cretin.

Why are people so bloody stupid?

One did seriously mishandle state secrets, the other is accused by Trump hating left wing outlets of the same. There is a difference between fact and wishful thinking.

Tell me about it! I'm in the same boat. However I did vote for Hillary., the horrible choice over the unfathomable choice.

Everything has gotten so polarized that there is no middle in the debates... at least no one knows how to handle it.

Says the guy posting on an internet forum about the most powerful man in the world and the runner up..

"unsuitable to run a corner shop", lol..
But yet somehow ran a multi-billion dollar company very successfully..

Tell me, what are your crowning achievements that make you qualified to talk down about some of the most successful people in the world?

Neither are idiots... Or, everybody is stupid but you..

I believe it's a form of insanity induced by the two-party system. People wouldn't be such fanbois for one or the other if they (perceived that they) had other choices.

It's a recent phenomenon. I'd say not more than about 5 years old, but decades in the making.

What we're seeing is a religious, cultish adherence to partisan politics and 'orthodoxy', something we haven't seen in western politics since the class system was alive and well, early in the 20thC. The past 80 odd years has been relatively peaceful, politically. People cared, but didn't care so much that they lost their minds .. cult style.

The general feeling (amongst observers) is that the current cultish approach to politics is a symptom of excess. When things are too safe and too easy, for too long, humans aren't at their best.

We've long had two party systems, and it's not been a problem before. This is something new.

He was an idiot, but you an't mention race as a reason for his stupidity.
I'm amazed at the stupid people who attacked him for his skin colour but seemed totally unable to see his massive mess ups as president.

It is, the people who made the choices were especially stupid this time.

Not at all. He may have more cash and a wife with excellent breasts, but I'm not a total moron with a stupid haircut and a tart of a wife that has let the whole world see her tits and who married me for my money.

Jealous - not of that silly sod but I would quite like an hour in bed with his wife and a video camera.
The former would be for sex but the latter would make me a small fortune from German magazines.

    Did he?
He seems to have posted a very large loss for one year and refuses to let anyone see his tax returns for the rest.
One has to suspect he isn't quite as good as he claims.

I probably would have done the same, not because she's any good, more because the alternative was worse.
It was like a choice between being hit by a large boulder or being hit by a small car.

Well yes. The Trumpsters are probably dumber, and the Hillarions .. who should be smarter, at some point in the past 5 years exchanged intelligence for cultism. The minute their ordinary politics became ideology, critical thinking was lost. So ... dumb and dumber.

Not stupid so much as overly polarised. Somehow one cannot be pro choice and still be Republican one cannot be pro gun and be Democrat.

The US has divided on political platforms rather than issues

I admit I voted against Trump, not "for" Hillary.
I agree they were both flawed, but not equally flawed.
Hillary cannot be called ignorant on presidential matters, Trump cannot be called competent on much of anything.
I used to be independent, but the GOP has turned me away - I am an old, white, male, and was earning in the top 10% when I worked, so I ought to be right up their alley, but Karl Rove tactics, Mitch McConnell, and the failed "Trickle Down" malarky prevent me from voting for any GOP candidate.
So, I am not so much for the Democratic Party as I am AGAINST the GOP.
I see the GOP putting party before country, and I can't abide that.

Well, we haven't always had television and the internet and all that they bring with them. Still, I think the two party system is ingredient #1. Also, America's electoral system is, on the whole, historically and contemporarily unprecedented in various ways.

That's it, precisely. It's become religion, instead of practicalities.

No I mean, NEW new. As in ... in the past few years.

Don't worry, few outside your country actually understand your elections :p

There isn't much to understand. They're a big ol' sh*t show. You keep up with the debates and the talking heads, and you realize that a bunch of people actually believe what they are told by the candidates and their ad writers, as well as by their ridiculously biased media outlets of choice (quite possibly including fake news), and you'll understand it well enough.

How did Donald get elected? 1. He wasn't "Crooked Hillary". 2. He attacked the establishment, which certainly is a joke. 3. The GOP, like the DNC, could not cough up a competent human being who would break from the usual GOP party line even a little bit. This is a biggie - no one wanted more of what had come before, but that's all everyone except Dumbass was offering, and only Dumbass managed to sound even remotely honest and convincing. Scary thought, isn't it?
