    Correct.
Note that the honorable representative from Ohio is using the singular form. Yours is in the plural.

Quite so, there are no procedures to remove a permanent member of the Security Council so it would require an Amendment of the UN Charter and that requires a 2/3 vote of all members AND unanimous approval by the SC. So they would have to vote in favor of removing themselves. The Security Council is the Big Five, the "Great Powers". In a very real sense they ARE the United Nations.

It must be time to dissolve the UN. It's pretty nearly toothless.

The UN isn't meant to have teeth. It's not in any way a governing body. One of it's First Principles is that the nations in it remain sovereign entities. The UN is a FORUM, it's a place where member nations can meet and talk before going to war and really nothing more than that.

Addendum: Here's a clue - it won't be Ukraine.

It is also a place where the country that pays the most money has a loud voice.
It's a place where action is limited because of permanent members veto.

    Yes, it is. In Ukraine.
Presidential election coming soon in Ukraine. And the current "president" doesn't have any chance to be re-elected, according to polls. And Ukraine is the poorest country in Europe.

In that case, thanks to the taxpayers of all the member states, Ukraine will be the biggest net beneficiary if it joins the EU. Or should I say when it joins the EU?? No-brainer, ain't it!

The bureaucrats of the EU were begging Ukraine almost on bended knees to join the club 2 years ago. That's why NATO are still doing their thing on Russia's doorstep right now. But I'll take your advice and try not to worry though.

It's THE reason why... the central point of what is happening in Eastern Europe, Nato moving East when it was agreed it would not. The simple fact that you choose to overlook this speaks volumes and only serve to justify the Russians doing what they need to do to protect their borders.

I also hope to god the Ukrainians don't listen to people like you who tell them they can win a fight with Russia... you KNOW they won't win, I can see it in my minds-eye.. tiny mouse in knights armour being told... "you can do this mate... go get em". And if a third party gets involved Ukraine will become a wasteland.

With all due respect Sir ... they have one Aircraft Carrier who was from the beginning on a trouble shooter, this is correct. But their destroyers, their frigates and also their submarines are pretty good and not crap! And more as that, their Navy Air Force and their land based Naval weapons like long range missiles are able to destoy every of these currently 11 big carriers of the US Navy too!
It's always amusing as well as not only, but especially the Americans think the Russians only have junk and the US weapons are so super doooper superior ... and that without any real justification and based on fact.

When I was posting about this back in 2015 I was getting no reaction from you-know-whos whatsoever.
    Nothing seems changed.

Hope you're feeling better this morning, Peter? You were having a real party yesterday afternoon.

Bugger me, ol' lad but it looked to me like Shrooms or Ayahuasca formed part of what you ingested.

It reminded very much of a former boss. That would be INSCOM's former commander, Gen. Albert Stubblebine. He though humans could walk through walls and kill goats by thought as well as reading other people's thoughts. An interesting man imo. I remember seeing a picture of him dressed as a native American and sitting outside a teepee after he was retired.

But I don't think he tripped. No sir.

Come now, Peter. I don't have any rules of engagement as you know perfectly well. These were outlined in that Guardian article I linked twice for you.

Speaking of pictures and lowering bars - this one is for your delectation and is all about Shrooms:

Forsooth. Enjoyed your image of the Brits doing anything with nukes without Washington's nod and consent. Maybe I should try some of these magic mushroom sh*t?

Told by Baker to Gorbatschov in 1990 during the negotiations for the reunification of the 2 Germany several times.

The point is that at this time the Warsaw Pact still existed so far and no one thought that 9 month later the Warsaw Pact wpuld be history, as wll the complete USSR would fell apart.
The point now is that in the West nobody felt bound by the promises of 1990/1991 ... simply because they had negotiated with the USSR and not with Russia and because the USSR did not exist anymore it lapsed in the eyes of many Western politicians. Is that so correct and justified what the West did? The answer to that depends accordingly ...

More importantly, however, the West has since lacked respect and respectful behavior with and for Russia.
Be it Georgia, it is the Baltic States, it is currently the Ukraine ... let alone the former Eastern European members of the Warsaw Pact, who are now all NATO member .... stupid Ivan has to shut up and everything accept what we do and say! That was the creed of Western relations with Moscow ... and that is now avenging itself!

True ... and has worked together with other measures already against the USSR well as we all know.
Only it works again? Questionable ... because the world has changed a lot here and the geoploitic situation is different than in the 1980's!

Democrats don't know **** about Foreign Affairs, other than to try and get other countries to adopt their failed ideology. Hence their NGO's

Ya have to remember the American Left was created to be victims and fail at damn near everything they do. Truly they have no business dealing with anything outside of the US.

The Democrats have been trying to pick a fight with Russia over anything. Its because they know the Russians tricked them into giving up breaches to all Top branches of the US government. In essence the Russians put them and their Special man on display as incompetent mopes.

Russia deploys 500 tactical combat aircraft and 340 aviation helicopters along the border with Ukraine, according to Fort Russ. See HERE.

If true does this suggest that nassy ol' Wussia - in light of the incident yesterday - thinks Poroshenko intends to start a war with Russia and then scream to the US for urgent assistance (HERE) after being "attacked"? Who the feck knows?

In regard to the earlier post of a small nuke to take out the bridge - as bizarre as this seems - does have some backing inasmuch as back in August 2017, Poroshenko apparently threatened to blow up the Kerch bridge HERE.

In any event, a couple of months ago, 21st Century Wire reported that the US planned to switch their war efforts from Syria to Ukraine to (apparently) start a hot war HERE and HERE. It's madness obviously, but yesterday's deployment of Russia air forces (assuming this report is accurate?) suggests that Russia considers this a distinct possibility.

As far back as 2014, Stratfor's former CEO, George Friedman, outlined that Ukraine and Syria were inextricably connected in Washington and what he called the "most obvious coup in history" by the US in Ukraine was punishment for Russia spoiling the US plans to regime change Assad in Syria HERE.

Then in 2015 an article in Strategic Culture reported that then US SecState, John Kerry, offered Russia they would back off in Ukraine in exchange for Russia giving the US Assad's "head on a platter". Russia didn't oblige. Maybe they had long ago learned that any promise made by the US is utterly worthless and will never be honoured? See HERE.

    Then there's THIS.

    Watch this space I guess...

Like Russia, China, or Iran making any promise. Equally worthless. Plus the Europeans were breaking promises for centuries. Promises, their word, treaties, etc etc.

If everybody else is doing it.....why should the US be held to blame. When the standard was set by those who were around a lot longer than 256 years. Its not like any of those that came before the US had standards, morals, or principles that they can tout. Its not like they were ever about doing the Right thing.

So truthfully all overseas shouldn't be doing any preaching, nor judging. Nor talking **** about the US. As its clear none have any Righteous ground to stand on. Nor can they back their play against the US.
