On numerous occasionsTyson suggests that because there are billions of cellphones out there we should have proof of aliens and spacecraft but the recent photo from a Jet's cockpit was taken by a cell phone and no one is asserting that is a true alien craft so cell phones are not going to prove anything. Cell phones are not designed for this type of Photography -- high-powered telephoto professional cameras would be and how many people have those?

I tried to take a photo of a recent encounter I had with an unknown craft. My phone was too slow to load and I didn't get it ready to take a picture in time until after the craft disappeared.

I've heard that in our economic system it is highly desirable and profitable for mobile phones to be slowed down deliberately through updates so that consumers will have to buy a new one every few years.

So, my personal take-a-way is that, no, just having a cell phone doesn't mean getting photos of alien craft.

On the up and up, though, my new Samsung Galaxy S22, which I just got this year, has a 10MP telephoto lens. And the main camera lens is 50MP. So, I could definitely take a detailed photo now. But unknown craft remain illusive.

Take it to a football game and sit back in the bleachers and see what it can do or shoot some birds in flight

The bigger problem is trusting the validity of any photo these days. There are some mighty powerful graphics programs out there that can produce cinema-quality effects that to the average joe look real. There is too much that can be faked without a lot of corroborating evidence to back it up.

To my thinking, there are only a handful of UFO/UAP incidents that I put in the category of truly unexplainable.

    From recent to the past:
    1. The recent release of the US Navy UAP videos from the fighter jets of the "Tictac" object.
    2. The Arizona lights over Phoenix.
    3. The Rendelsham Forest incident in Britain.
    4. The 1966 Ohio Portage County sighting where police officers chased a UFO across the state line (yes, it was included in the movie CE3K)
    5. The 1961 Betty and Barney Hill abduction.
I don't place much trust in the Roswell incident, too much time has passed, and too much reliance on witness testimony that has long been dead.

There was a charge against Apple for encouraging updates by slowing phones. They didn't get away with that.

There are plenty of people who analyze stuff like that.

I think it's a pretty safe bet that any new phone was created with a serious interest in speed. These companies are spending huge dollars on faster processors, better cameras, etc. Those features are prominent in their sales pitches and they get reviewed on that.

Yes, this is one of the most bogus claims out there. Photos prove nothing and he damn well knows it. Any photos people do get are dismissed as fraud or misidentifications. He would be the first to object if someone tried to claim a photo was scientific evidence.

Bruce Maccabee, an optical physicist [Ph.D.] and a well known UFO investigator, told me about 15 years ago that for now, a 3-D camera can take a photo that can stand as physical evidence, but not for long. I'm sure that is no longer true. Computer fakes are too good now.

Bruce is most famous for his analysis of the McMinnville Oregon case. But he has probably analyzed thousands of cases. One can only show that we can find no evidence a photo has been faked. There is no way to prove it wasn't.

Tyson often pisses me off. His logic around this subject is pedestrian at best. He shouldn't address subjects he knows nothing about.

Correction, I think he said there was only one way to fake a 3D photo and he could tell if that was done. Anyway, that was a long time ago in terms of technology. Now we can barely tell if a video has been altered.

There are lots of other highly credible events; not the least of which being Iran 76, for starters. That is a landmark case.
    https://www.nsa.gov/portals/75/docu...ified-documents/ufo/routing_slip_ufo_iran.pdf

The Ariel School event is also a highly credible event. A new documentary is just now coming out. But it was documented meticulously by John Mack, two months after it happened.
    http://www.politicalforum.com/index.php?threads/ariel-school-ufo-documentary.600058/

There are probably hundreds of credible cases that are well documents; many were military encounters. Generally it is estimated [going all the way back to Blue Book] that about 5% of all UFO reports are unexplained.

This seems to happen. Tyson is excellent on the topic of space. He had a Sagan like role. Then he stepped out of his environment and went rogue. Now, he’s less credible.

I don’t get it. Stay in your lane and maintain trust. This isn’t hard.

Scientists are generally terrified of being logical about UFOs because the stigma attached is so strong. If they speak freely or openly address the subject in a serious way, they may ruin their careers. They get labeled a crackpot. It is quite absurd given the significance of the question and the role of science. There is no greater question to be answered. If aliens have been visiting earth, if just one UFO was actually an alien craft, it is the most important discovery in human history.

It appears to me that aliens haves been visiting for thousands of years. Many cultures have known this throughout the ages. And they talk about it as their history.

Yeah, but if they have, it’s too late. We are a society that is a butter tub under Lisa Simpson’s bed, or a society on Bender’s torso, flying through space.

    so what?

    Nonsense.

They need evidence. Find us an actual alien, even a device that is clearly alien, and thousands will want to examine it..

The quantity and quality of imagery has dramatically improved and that alone adds to UFO data as Tyson indicates, however until a ship lands and is filmed the information will never be "Proof"....I have seen quite convincing evidence lately however and think we are being prepared for something.

I agree, I also thought, for a world-renowned scientist, that his 'simplicity' analysis was not totally genuine, even dismissive.

I'm a scientist and you're not. So firstly, how would you know? I worked closely with the scientific community on this subject for over 10 years.

And we have evidence of many reported events. Many cases leave trace evidence including metals. We have many with multiple RADAR and pilot and other eyewitness observations. RADAR data is physical evidence for an event especially when confirmed by multiple stations and witnesses.

If ET lands and the yard and volunteers to be examined, I'll let you know. Until then I guess you're done. Adios.

This is a scientific paper about UFOs published in a highly respected scientific journal, JBIS - the Journal of the British Interplanetary Science. I knew three of the authors. It got national news attention when it was published. It was one of a handful of papers on the subject published since the 60s. It was considered to be quite a breakthrough.

Photos and videos are not considered to be scientific evidence. And he knows it.

That's nonsense and I have posted statements from highly respected scientists to confirm what I'm saying.

But if you need to rant, go ahead. I'll just put you on ignore.
