    Completely irrelevant.

    Come on Moon, be honest you know that the western allies were no threat whatsoever to the Soviets in the aftermath of World War II.

    Admit that and maybe I'll take you more seriously in your advocacy for those people on the West Bank and Gaza.

    By the way, Moon, I"m a high school history teacher (HQT for that matter) specialziing in the 20th century and the Cold War so I know of what I speak.

    No way I'd allow my kids anywhere near your classes, dude. As I said before you are attempting to distort history.
    Now, let me instruct you again - and you can pass the truth on . The Allies had a plan to attack Russia post WW2. You've see the link which refers to the released documents. I'm not looking for your apology for denying it, I'm looking for your acceptance of it.

    Some obscure plan thought up off hand is irrelevant.

    There was never any kind of serious thought given to actually attacking the Soviets in the aftermath of WWII.

    Even before the end of the war, the U.S. was sending tens of thousands of its soldiers in the European theatre home and the British had exactly zero ability to do anything about the Soviets on their own and the Soviets knew this.

    Read it again;

    You clearly put your own misconceptions before reality. That is NO qualification for a teacher, boyo.

    A score of 198 out of 200 on the Praxis II test certainly is though.

    Did Churchill have any capability whatsoever of fullfilling his supposed "plan" to invade the Soviet Union?

    No.

    Thus it was meaningless, irrelevant and no threat to the Soviets whatsoever. Thus the Soviets had no reason at all to feel threatened by the western allies.

    Beside, the British were tired of Churchill and they voted him out in 1945...

    I guess the USSR crushing the Prague uprising was only a case of though love from the great humanist that was Stalin? On the other hand, some delusionnal people here think that China is on the side of the anti-censorship crusade...:mrgreen:

    The thoughts of Churchill were completely irrelevant of course. Is he/she a teacher?

    Churchill wasn't in power by the end of WW2. He was replaced by Athlee so the "fact" that Churchill wanted to go at it with the russian doesn't hold any value at all.

    Very true.

    But go all the way back to the aftermath of WWI and Churchill wanted Boshevism in Russia eradicated.

    But that didn't stop him from supporting the Soviets in WWII.

    So despite his private wishes (and probably hopes) the bottom line is that Britain was no threat to the U.S.S.R. and Churchill was not in a position of power when the war ended.

    Not really. Churchill had the misfortune of being right...about things that were often years in the future.

    This often made him seem like a warmonger as he saw clearly enemies that would threaten years before the fact (Nazis, Soviets).

    More crap. VE Day was in May, 1945. There weren't any elections until July. What sort of arrogant fools try to contest official papers released for historical purposes ? :mrgreen:

    Once more, for the slowest ships in the convoy;

    Face up to it, Nosferax, you've made yourself look extremely foolish in attempting to deny recorded history. 4 out of 10 for the attempt at a wriggle.

    And furthermore de-classified documents show that Britain didn't regard the Soviet Union as any kind of significant threat post-WW2.
    This is a summary from The Guardian, 1999:

    'The Soviet Union had no intention of launching a military attack on the West at the height of the Cold War, British military and intelligence chiefs privately believed, in stark contrast to what Western politicians and militarly leaders were saying about the "Soviet threat".

    "The Soviet Union will not deliberately start general war or even limited war in Europe", a briefing for the British chiefs of staff-market Top Secret, UK Eyes Only, and headed 'The Threat: Soviet Aims and Intentions-declared in June 1968.
    "Soviet foreign policy has been cautious and realistic", the department argued, and despite the Vietnam war, the Russians and their allies had "continued to make contacts in all fields with the West and to maintain a limited but increasing political dialogue with NATO powers" '.
