Trump has come up with a new power that the president has. He can declassify documents in his mind and that makes what he did "totally proper and legal and not potentially traitorous to the Country"

Every Republican that Trump has mocked or debased have lost the support of the Trump Republican base. Just look at how Barr, Kelly, Bolton, Sessions, Cheney, etc., have done after Trump put THEM down. Every one of these people are now seen as enemies and traitors to the Republican ideals.............and yet each and every one of them are loyal members of the Republican Party.

I don't see this as "being a positive to DeSantis".

and this is not even starting to mention all the negatives that DeSantis brings to the table himself.

DeSantis has done more for immigration issues in a day than Trump has in 4 years.
People aren't blind. They see the witch hunts for Trump and know its pointless to still support him. DeSantis on the other hand brings the action!
You guys are gonna wish Trump was still in office when this guy becomes president. Brace for impact!

 

I think he’s got a point. The performative draws attention, e.g. “DeSantis has done more for…”. While DeSantis has done nothing for immigration the stunt is what matters. Politics as reality TV: punish the right demographic to “owe the Libs”.
In lieu of Trump DeSantis makes sense.

 

I don't think you read or understood my post.

The point I was making is that Trump has dissed DeSantis and everyone that has been dissed by Trump has gone on to be hated by Trump Republicans. This is not about what makes sense to do. It has to do with getting enough votes to win and there is not ONE SINGLE Republican out there that can win "if they don't get the votes of all Trump Republicans". As it is, Trump Republicans make up over 50% of the Republican party (some statistics say it is over 60%) and not getting 60% of the vote from Trump Republicans, no Republican can win.

Keep in mind that Trump has dissed DeSantis as a "dull loser" and unless Trump changes his mind (unlikely), Trumpers will not vote for DeSantis. They would rather lose the election than lose Trump's favor.

I'm all for a DeSantis nomination - I would like to hear his responses to being called out for his 'stunts'.

 

Easily explainable from a "common sense" point of view.

If you were faced with the certainty that you were going to get an illness, such as Diabetes versus Cancer, which do you think most of Americans would vote for (in great numbers), Diabetes or Cancer (Biden or Trump)?

 

None of them were WILLING to go to jail for him. None of them realized "Protesting while republican" is somehow a crime.

The bigger stunt is the Biden Administration not vetting these illegal immigrants, I'm sorry 'migrants'. I could even criticize both and say: Who knows what any of these type of people are planning. To just randomly locate them somewhere, something could happen where a US citizen is targeted in a crime or a situation like what happened in CA where a fanatic religious couple were planning bombing attacks and the like at their work place.

That's what the MAGA crowd has been flouting all along. He has a magic wand that declassifies any and all material.

trump will never win again. But it would be great if he was the R candidate.
Put a real exclamation point on how terrible the MAGA platform really is. So anti democratic process.

trump did on immigration only what he could legally get done. Afterall, he had illegals in some of his businesses and never deported a single on of them.
Desantis won't either. But he is good at fooling some people.

 

Protesting while republican is NOT a crime.
But breaking the law while being anything is a crime.

 

I'm confident that anyone that supports Trump will support any Republican nominee. At some point you're going to have to concede that what makes the majority of those supporting Trump do so was because of his policy positions, not because of his sparkling personality. I would vote for Trump or Desantis. The ticket would be greater if the latter was the running mate of Trump.
