this is supposed to be gun safety? link https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/exclusive-smart-guns-finally-arriving-in-u-s-seeking-to-shake-up-firearms-market/vi-AASFzax?ocid=msedgntp what a joke!! why? anyone that knows very much about firearms, knows that all you have to do is disassemble the weapon. remove the electronics, they bye bye "smart gun." don't you think the criminals will easily find out how to do that? 8 to 900 dollars for a joke gun. imo. what do you think? interested in what you think. thanks. :)

Its not to prevent thieves from using them, but rather prevent kids in your house from being able to accidentally fire them.

They could be useful for certain applications. For instance, they could allow prison guards to carry firearms without the risk of a prisoner getting control of one.

I don't have any interest in them myself, however.

Personally, I want the simplest gun possible. Little to no chance of malfunctioning or requiring me to enter the correct passcode during a time of crisis. On top of that, it likely has a battery to go dead. I have enough smart appliances around our house which break down more frequently and are more expensive to repair or replace.

do prison guards carry fire arms now? no? but they still get assaulted by prisoners, don't they? so guards don't need to carry them. that is for the sp. guard units to use incase of riots and tower guards to use. iirc.:)

I know that they generally don't carry now, but as you say there are assaults, many fatal. Perhaps this tech could allow them to carry without the risk of a prisoner being able to use one.

    Maybe that's a non-starter for another reason, I'm not a prison guard so I couldn't tell ya.

your quote: Perhaps this tech could allow them to carry without the risk of a prisoner being able to use one. do you really think the public would go along with that idea? imv, not likely. all ready too many criminals being shot then protests breaking out, when they don't have all the facts in the shooting. :)

I'm not committed to the point, I am not a prison officer. I was just saying how they may have specialised uses.
