The poll, released Thursday, found 44 percent of respondents said they would vote for Bredesen, compared to 43 percent for Blackburn.

I live just outside Knoxville TN, and have for most of my life. Ads are almost exclusively running for Blackburn the swamp rat, which I don't understand. I did, however, finally see a Bredesen ad last night. Maybe he is saving his ads for the final push, but I don't know.

I am voting for Bredesen for a few reasons.

First of all, I am voting for the party that has been working on legalizing cannabis. The GOP is late on this issue, and has lost me for now. I will probably vote Republican again in the future, but not this time.

Secondly, Marsha Blackburn co-sponsored legislation that stopped the DEA from investigating opioid distribution centers. She needs to lose just for that alone.

Third, I like Trump, but he needs opposition. I do not want the Republicans ramming their agenda through, whatever it is. Change should be gradual and should favor all Americans, not just left or right. I would feel the same about a Democrat POTUS.

Furthermore, after I watched the debate between these two, I made my final decision. Blackburn is a Trump lacky and an attack dog. She has no place in the US Senate. Bredesen is much more stately and has the personality of a US Senator, one above politics. At least that was the original intent for the US Senate. I would like to see Senators appointed, not elected, as was the framer's intent, to keep the Senate from being politicized.

Finally, throughout Bredesen's two terms as Governor of TN, he has an A rating from the NRA. Now, he has a D rating. The NRA is nothing but a Republican PAC, and for this reason their ratings are meaningless.

There are many single issue voters out there.

Ignorant choice I think but its their vote.

Actually, just like everything with me, its more nuanced than that. The war on drugs is a total utter failure and an embarrassment to the US. Its unethical to ruin people's lives because the didn't get their drugs from a Dr. That is the government putting a monopoly on drugs. It's like the old saying, it's not the fact that you are using drugs that it illegal, it's who's drugs you're using.

Besides, there are better ways to curb drug use and abuse proven over the last nearly two decades in Portugal and other places. So yeah, pot is my number one issue. Only because the average American is too ass backwards to realize that abolishing drug prohibition, and treating it as a medical condition not a criminal one, would be a much better as well as Constitutional method of dealing with the problems.

I volunteered for a few years at a drug/alcohol rehab clinic where people that weren't too "ass backwards" to become addicted to dangerous substances and their families tried to regain their lives.

I have missed feelings about legalizing pot. But no qualms about keeping societal poison illegal.

Would you legalize pot that has PCP added?

How old would someone need to be in your world to legally purchase Heroin laced with rat poison?

I thought I addressed that in my OP. The NRA lowered PBs rating this year from A to D. How convenient.

I suspect this poll was conducted by a palm reader with direct connections to the grave yard

Tenn is afflicted with creeping sociakism as refugees from failed blue states move to the south

So it is a close race
