The "annual" caravan was the one that ended up with child separation. This caravan (first of three) has swelled to over 12,000 people. There is nothing like that before. There are a lot of layers to this, but there is a shitshow coming. It is really going to be a nightmare.

As I’ve already noted, the San Ysidro checkpoint has a backlog of about a thousand awaiting camped nearby for their their turn to apply for asylum already.

 

Reports from imbedded reporters are that 90% to 95% of these people are young, single men.

And they're not fleeing violence. They want better paying jobs .... which doesn't qualify them to stay here.
