New York AG Sues Trump Family for Financial Fraud

They are stuck in stupid . Tough problem to "cure".

“Today, a judge ruled in our favor and found that Donald Trump and the Trump Organization engaged in years of financial fraud,” James said in a statement. “We look forward to presenting the rest of our case at trial.”

Trump’s lawyers, in their own summary judgment bid, had asked the judge to throw out the case, arguing that there wasn’t any evidence the public was harmed by Trump’s actions. They also argued that many of the allegations in the lawsuit were barred by the statute of limitations.

Engoron, noting that he had rejected those arguments earlier in the case, equated them to the plot of the film “Groundhog Day.”

He fined five defense lawyers $7,500 each as punishment for “engaging in repetitive, frivolous” arguments, but denied James’ request to sanction Trump and other defendants.

 

You mean charge you for something no one involved said you did nor did anyone suffer any harm?

To clarify the property value debate, Mar-a-Lago was worth a billion dollars when it had stolen classified documents.

Now it’s worth $18 million.

Who? Where is he listed as a party to this and filed a complaint?

 

Does this judge have some expertise in real estate? How does he know for what someone would be willing to pay. Does that $18M include intrinsic value, all the assets, future earnings......there are all types if valuations. And each lender use their own assesments of the value is applied to their agreement. Have you never had a mortgage or a business or sold a house or a car?

 

When making an evaluation of a property there are many factors to consider.

For example, when making a valuation on his penthouse at Trump Tower, Trump made an estimate based on square footage that was THREE TIMES the actual square footage of the penthouse.

 

Uh, huh? Now you think that witnesses have to file the complaint? Wow.

 

He doesn't need to be an expert. Ms. James spells out, quite clearly, in the complaint the various fraudulent methods that Trump used to over inflate the values of his properties. You really do need to read the complaint before commenting on the validity of the charges.

 

The AG has the authority (some would say DUTY) to file the complaint in this case.
