even you understand that there is a big difference between "preventing people with mental illnesses (which could mean 25% of the entire public) from buying guns" versus your scheme of making everyone who wants to buy a gun (from a licensed dealer) undergo a mental health examination that the buyer will have to pay for, schedule etc.

Thanks for stopping by, but your "spin-twist-rant-rave" song on this topic has been heard 1000 times.

I shared Pew poll on the issue, so people would know where majority (normal people) of Americans stand on this.

and I agree-most people don't want the mentally ill (which is a nebulous term since there is a big difference between someone with minor depression vs someone who is a homicidal sociopathic active killer wannabe) owning guns

but that isn't the issue is it

Ok, then set about changing the Constitution. What are y'all waiting for? Is it because you know those polls are bullshit?

the polls are a joke. They ask stuff that almost guarantees the answer they want. Such as

    1) DO YOU SUPPORT bans on Assault weapons so as to prevent mass shootings

    2) DO you support background checks to keep criminals from getting guns.

    3) do you support preventing those with MENTAL ILLNESSES from possessing guns.

but when the detail devils are explained, the support tends to wane rather significantly

No need to change the Constitution.

Sorry if the findings offend you.

The ban idea got very little support in the poll. Background checks are already in the books (for a good reason).

Why did you re-word the questions?

how come voters never seem to vote the same way the polls work out? the fact is, constitutional rights really are not very dependent on what biased polls do

The right to keep and bear arms is the supreme law of the land. The only way to change it is to amend the Constitution.

Sorry if the law stands in the way of your communist, totalitarian plans.

When was there a popular vote on these issues?

Very much so. And you make the same claim. Isn't' that strange? Where we differ is that I do not want criminals and mentally ill people owning them.

The Constitution isn't amended by popular vote.

So, you are saying we have to amend the Constitution if we want prevent convicted criminals or mentally ill people from owning guns?

There was a question about banning certain guns, and it did not get much support. I do not support that either.

    No one said it was.

what is a disqualifying mental illness?

why do these polls dishonestly call 11 round magazines HIGH CAPACITY

What is an "assault style weapon" when the only feature useful for assault is select fire

You are among the very few who don't know what they refer to when they say "assault style weapon". The word 'style' is there because people took offense when they were called "assault weapons" which was technically incorrect since they do not have full auto capability. If everyone knows what they refer to, then whats the point of bickering over the choise of words? Same with 'high capacity', when it flat out state they mean 10 or more rounds.

Disqualifying mental illness is brain disease such as schizophrenia

stop fibbing-I know why you anti gun types call them that. Since I am a professional in this field, I also won that the Californian definition banned the Walther, Hammerli and Domino Olympic rapid fire target pistols/ When you tell stupid people that HIGH CAPACITY means 7 rounds less than the standard magazine for almost every police pistol, you sway the answers. That's as stupid as calling a car that can go 55 MPH a "SPEEDING VEHICLE"
a disqualifying mental illness under 18 USC 922 is one that has led to someone being ADJUDICATED mentally incompetent. You know-a procedure where the individual's substantive and procedural due process rights are safeguarded as opposed to some anti gun doctor merely claiming someone has a "mental illness" even if if would never result in such an adjudication

I don't know why I bothered when you always respond with BS like this. I am sorry if you are offended by their choice of words, but then again, is there anything that does not trigger you? I doubt it. Have a nice day

You don't want to "prevent criminals or mentally ill from owning guns."

You want to prevent everyone from owning guns.

The cats out of the bag on that one.

If you're so concerned about criminals and mentally ill people owning guns, then lock up the criminals and the mentally ill. Problem solved.
