I wont either. Same reason I don't ever get a flu shot. It's not a guarantee.

Trump is the master troll, I would never want to end up across a table from him. He knows full well the chances of a vaccine are slim and none, he knows that all his opposition knows full well the chances of a vaccine are slim and none. Moreover all of them/us know full well it isn't going to be rolling out in the next six months.

But what he also knows is that the American voter will reward effort and meaningful progress towards an Executive goal, ESPECIALLY, positive "news" to cheer for the goal, and he is about to turn the pending Election into "Trump's Fight for the Vaccine!" Genius. The corrupt liars of the Scamdemic whooped the population up into a frenzy over a flu? Well then we'll grab the football and fix it anyway! Masterful.

Better get to printing out those fraudulent ballots doubletime. Gonna take tens of millions of them to pull this off Democrats. Personally, I'm not sure -at all- that I'd want to -even be- POTUS during the cleanup of this monstrous fraud. No one is going to get much policy done. If it's not pulled off right, it could easily mess up the party holding the bag for decades.

Just how the HELL does Trump know whan a vaccine will get approval when medical experts don't??

Is he planning to propose we get jabbed with untested crap - like with the treatments he proposes?

This is just like testing -

Once there is a real working vaccine, pretty much everyone in the world will want one.

So, it is NOT evidence that you will get any closer than a youtube video.

What I mean is there are many strains of the flu. When you get a flu shot, you aren't guaranteed that you wont get the flu.

Um... its not mandatory. You will not be jabbed with anything that you don't want to be jabbed with.

If theres a vaccine in six months and you think it hasn't been tested thoroughly, no one is going to force you to be a guinea pig. You'll be free to wait until you're satisfied that its safe and effective.

I'll be waiting until the vaccine manufacturers are no longer sheltered from the damages of their products by the NVICP before I get one (which will probably be never).

Ths is true with pretty much any medicine you take or any medical treatment you accept. Asperin won't necessarily rid you of a headache. Chemotherapy won't necessarily rid you of cancer. A hip replacement won't necessarily end the horrible pain of walking. Etc.

Flu vaccine reduces your chances of getting the flu. What the heck is wrong with that?

Like with other vaccines, the more people take the vaccine the less likely you and others will even be exposed, let alone contract the virus.

The point is that Trump promised a vaccine by a certain time.

And, he doesn't know JACK about that. This is another of his miricles - it will magically go away in summer, you can take hydrochloroquine and it will be solved, you can inject household cleaners, we'll have testing in February, nobody needs to wear a mask (as I as president don't), we don't need to close travel to Europe or to Spring Break or to Mardi Gras.

The list of his crap about medicine goes on and on. Now, we're just hearing more of it.

WHY are we not hearing about midicine from people who know MEDICINE???

In the press conference linked in OP, Trump said they're hoping to get a vaccine but the plan isn't dependent on one because theres no guarantee we'll ever have one. 'Vaccine or no vaccine, we're coming back!' I believe he said.

When did he "promise a vaccine by a certain time"?

Every individual decides for themselves, that's the beauty of the USA. They CANNOT make you take a vaccine. You decide, I decide, everybody decides.

Thats CNN saying Trump "promised" and then quoting him saying its a goal.

I didn't ask for a link to CNN putting words in Trumps mouth. I can hardly walk without tripping over those and falling into a steaming pile of them. No more, please. I want to see when Trump made such a "promise". Not when CNN made it up that he made such a promise.

The fastest vaccine ever developed was the Mumps vaccine ( afaik ) which took four years.

This administration is living in la la land. No way is there going to be vaccine even in 18 months.

also, they haven't proved that people who now have antibodies if they are immune.

If they are not, then how can a vaccine work, which depends on anti bodies for a weaker version of the virus?

and to add insult to injury, this virus mutates ( or so I've heard ).

The problem is for kids in certain states that require vaccinations to attend school. I would hate to have to give a child an unproven vaccine.

I had the flu once when I was young and healthy. I was afraid I going to die and and then afraid I wouldn't. It may not kill you but it's certainly no fun and would surely not leave me the same now even if I survived. I know a vaccine is not a guarantee but it's worked so far and is really the only chance we get anyway. I'll have it and I hope it's soon.

LOL - it was a vid of Trump's claims.

CNN had nothing to do with it - other than giving you the bad news.

There is no indication that the COVID vaccine would be required anywhere in the USA.

It's not even clear how available it will be. We knew how to make tests and still have nowhere near enough to follow the Trump plan.

Only certain vaccines are required for schools - ones that have been LONG in use.

Mumps was developed in 1967. I hope we've learned something in 53 years. Mumps is also rarely fatal and not nearly as contagious. There is much more motivation to develop this.

My understanding is that all viruses mutate. The mutations, however, are generally weaklings easily killed off by all immune systems and rarely survive for long. Very few are X-Men like Corvid

My understanding also is that a vaccine is not really totally needed. We could live with this disease if we could contain it, we did so with several very bad things in the past and we might do so again. An effective treatment might be all that is necessary, like with bacterial pneumonia (though a vaccine is available there and is always nice)

I'm fine with it being voluntary. But if you get sick, don't expect any help with your healthcare costs. Good luck with the ventilator.

In your profile picture, there is you with a motorcycle. On that motorcycle is a helmet. A helmet is going to protect your life far less than the vast majority of vaccines will, yet you wear one, even though it isn't a guarantee. Which by the way, good on you. Whenever I ride a bike, I always wear a helmet. But your argument against getting the vaccine ultimately makes no sense. Nothing in life is a guarantee, but if the evidence is on one side of the issue over another, you you should go with the evidence.

It isn't genius though... Genius would have been to take the virus seriously in January, get the country prepared, and then have low infection rates and death rates. Having a catastrophic failure to lead result in 100s of thousands of deaths and mass unemployment, doesn't become genius because of a cynical attempt to distract from those failures. His strategy may make this election closer than it otherwise would have been, but unless he actually does the work of governing and leading in a crisis, no amount of clever distraction will cover up his failures.

In that case, you may have to establish you have COVID-19 antibodies before you get on an airliner, train, subway, bus, or take a taxi. You may not be allowed to work closely with the public. I'm quite sure public school students will have to establish they have COVID-19 antibodies.
