It looks like Trump's idiotic battle over his equally moronic wall is winding down to its inevitable conclusion.

Trump will either capitulate on Friday, and sign the bill Congress puts in front of him, and whine about how it's not what he really wanted (which is what he did last year), or he will try another shutdown, or even try and declare a national emergency.

    Trump loses in all scenarios.

McConnell has publicly made it clear that he will not hold his caucus if Trump tries another shutdown, guaranteeing that the bill currently in Congress will be presented to Trump with a veto proof majority (which happened last year as well).

The bill being discussed now, is essentially the same deal that Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer offered on December 11th, the day Trump lost the battle.

In the interim, hundreds of thousands of federal employees went without pay, private companies doing government work aren't getting paid (and, no, they still haven't been paid),'

But Trump isn't beating his chest about a wall anymore, and neither is his base.

The big "debate" now, is a nonsensical debate over the deliberate Palinesque lie Trump told about his crowd size. He's also glommed onto the old right wing bugaboo about "reds" (this time rebranded as "socialists".

Trump is now going to save singe wide trailer nation from socialism.

The government is promising to protect Trumpsters from the government!

Now Trump is bellowing out self contradictory messages.

He has "Finish the Wall" on display at his rallies, even as he muses out loud about declaring a national emergency and/or shutting down the government in order to build the wall, he says is under construction (it isn't).

Actually, Trump is VERY predictable. He always leads with threats and bullying. Then he inflicts unnecessary chaos and backs off. Then he bellows self contradictory messages, and then capitulates, leaving the people on the other side of the negotiating table with everything they put on the table in the first place.

This is how he bungled the ACA repeal effort in the Spring of 2017, It's how he handled Kim Jung Un,

And it is how he's handling the loss of his wall battle.

we have spent over two months now on a battle that was over on December 11th.

And, as I predicted on December 11th. There will be no wall.

But, it doesn't matter to his base.

The reason for that, is that on the edge of capituation, Trump is pivoting to a new shiny object for his base to worship. This time, it appears to be "defeating socialism", which isn't even being seriously talked about.

    This too, is classic Trump.

As Trump fails, his gambit is always to shout "look the other way".

Given that Co-President Hannity has given his blessing it appears Don has boxed himself in a corner and has no choice but to sign the border security legislation.

President Flip Flop could have had $25B for a wall and was ready to sign on for it when Hannity, Rushbo, and Coulter refused to allow it to happen because it provided relief for those in the DACA program.

The self-proclaimed great deal maker (what a joke) screwed this up so badly even congressional Repubs turned their backs on him with regard to forcing another shutdown and declaring a national emergency (what a joke). After leaving himself virtually no options, including having no one to blame (but himself) because he can't afford to blame Repubs, his only alternative is to use what power he has to fulfill the "Mexico will pay for the big, beautiful wall" promise.

People are never going to stop talking about the Wall, even if we can't get All Wall Now.

Trump is the go to guy, nobody's going to abandon Trump in 2020.

    Trump lost, Bigly,

And not for the first time either.

Why you cheer for losing, I don't know. But you cheer loudly for it!

Of course, most Americans are deligted that Trump lost the battle over this disgusting racist golden calf.

He has been living rent free in your mind far longer than he ever did in mine.

I kinew that Trump was a weak bullying little liar thirty years ago.

You're just now finding it out.

But seem you think being a weak, corrupt, bullying little liar is a good thing, apparently!

Which is the kind of thing a person would say of they viewed the conduct of the nation's business as a game show for their entertainment.

    He did, didn't he!

And I think he's right about "people never going to stop talking about the wall"

The core of Trump's appeal is to the ugly underbelly of American political culture. Racism, xenophobia, parochialism, and fear.

And he will leave office and stage rallies at which retirees and lower middle class white flock to throw their money at the fake billionaire!

Did that bill have funding for a wall? I thought there was some kind of "no new structures" clause in there.

Your first sentence is true, but that is not it's purpose.

And Trump may well sign it because he knows he won't win in court, and he knows that he has no support in Congress anymore.

This is the end of the Trump Administration as far as legislative achievements go. He has been checked, in no small part because of his own incompetence, and his willingness to play scorched earth politics before he loses.

Trump lost the wall battle on Dec11th. Pelosi told him on live television that he didn't have the votes.

    And, now, he doesn't.

Trump doesn't understand his job, or how government works. Pelosi had already gamed out all the Trump scenarios and seen where they go when she told him that he didnt' have the votes.

Trump insisted on doing all that in front of the television cameras. So the world got to watch his peevish strutting, his lies, and his childish rants. And at the end of the public display he himself insisted on, Trump made a giant ass of himself, and boxed himself into the corner he's been in for over two months now.

In the meantime, all we've done is watch Trump and his surrogates strut and bellow, and then capitulate (again)

Oh, and hundreds of thousands of innocent people and businesses are still waiting for their back pay, and recievables, paying the price for Trump's incompetence and bluster.

Only the sort of fools who blindly believe every lie Trump makes up believe that.

But then, Trumpsters love to be lied to. They prove that here every single day,

Trump stood in front of his fawning mob and lied to them about the wall being under construction (it isn't), and lied to them that he, as President could thwart the will of the legislature (he can't). But the suckers believe it, just because Trump said it.

Trump knows that he can lie right at folks like you, and you'll swallow it whole and say "thank you sir, can I have another".

Trump figured that out by watching how the talk radio righties react when their media lies to them (which is pretty much constantly).

They offered him $1.5 billion on Dec 11th. That's all he's going to get.

But hundreds of thousands of people had to be thrown out of work at Christmas, and thousands of federal vendors had to go unpaid while the fools in the White House played their games.

And Nancy knows how to get the bloviater liar in chief to look more foolish than he does on his own daily. Quite comical watching him always lose.

As has been the case since election day, whining.

That is obvious to everyone but the deniers themselves.
They've been locked in a cage since the civil rights movement.
A black prez riled them up and tRUMP seized upon it.

Yes, but with the caveat that it couldn't be used for a wall.

-This claim is patently false. This deal is most certinaly NOT the same, your bogus claim of equality not withstanding. The original offer expressly did NOT allow for any money being spent on new parts of the wall. Nancy expressly offered $1 for new wall construction.

-What will most likely happen going forward is that Trump will sign the bill, and begin construction of the new 55 miles of wall with the newly legislatively allocated funds. Trump will also access the $1 billion or so that is being bandied about in regards to funds that can be reallocated. On top of that, he will declare an emergency, which will immediately be tied up in the courts. At that point, he can legimately point to the minor legislative accomplishment of getting a critical part of the wall being built, he will have kept his promise to do everything to get that wall built ( with some success), and the court case will run through next years election. The net result is that the election will be a referendum on immigration and the wall, which in Trumps estimation, is precisely the battleground where he wants to make his stand.

Nancy Pelosi said 0 for the wall.

1.3 billion is a lot more then 0. Looks like a win, and could be used to justify a national emergency for the rest.

Democrats gave 1.3 million for a wall they say doesn't work and is immoral

    :bored:

Sort of like how the RW is terminally-obsessed with Hillary, Obama, Omar, and AOC?

    Got it.

    Pot meet Kettle.

    Anyway, back on topic:

Everybody (repeat EVERYBODY) knew that "Trump's Wall" was never going to be built.

That said, his "I am going to build another Great Wall of China" shtick resonated with just enough low-information voters to game the Electoral College math.

But, c'mon, Everybody KNEW that Trump's Wall would NEVER be built.:flagus:
