One news report breaks that out to $180 annually per person. That's like full-coverage health insurance for $15 a month.
So to be fair- De Blasio should offer that to all the rest of the NYC population. If you can do it for the illegals, surely those paying their bills deserve the same benefits.

It is in line with typical liberal and liberal democrat math skills of course......

If there is a plus in this shitstorm it will graphically point out for NYC residents what a load of crap this adds to each taxpayer and the results will be very public. Meanwhile, I contemplate opening an office in NYC treating toenail fungus and billing the city for each treatment.
It stuns me how people can vote idiots like Newsome, Bliaso, Ellison, Sanders, etc. into office.

If the health care is for all... will everyone then use it? If I'm a multi billion dollar a year earner in the markets, is this my new go to health insurance? $15 a month seems like a bargain to me. Of course, I have no expectation that mr DeBlasio actually means folks who actually already have insurance. Oh, and why does NYC have 600K uninsured residents? Didn't they all sign up on Obamacare? Weren't they required to do so by law? Why is there still a population, especially that large a population, that doesn't already have a form of health care?

De Blasio is a socialist idiot bent on destroying New York City. His proposal, if it comes to fruition, will end up costing that city billions a year and destroying the hospitals who will be overwhelmed with freeloaders and illegals taking advantage of the system. New Jersey has had a max exodus from that state already and New York will soon follow.

Pretty much the way it is, and like most government controlled programs, is run with great incompetence and indifference.
I've come to know that whatever government controls will be so.

Probably because it will take the rest of the state's taxpayers to pay the bills for NYC when they go bankrupt.
Besides, those people don't matter because they don't have votes in NYC.

Well, no.. Many will choose California, where the entire state will be a vast freebieland, thanks to a similar mindset by their new governor, and the climate is better suited to street-sleepers. At least until they have driven out the stupid taxpaying companies and wealthy people. They are working on that, and making considerable progress. However your premise is entirely correct. Nothing attracts the unproductive like "free"- free anything.

That’s an annual income of $5,555 per doctor. Nurses will work free because they are good people. These numbers don’t add up. I’m suspicious.

Every doctor will have to accept 33 new patients for $5,555 a year.

I tend to think that such a generous policy will not require any proof of residence, since it doesn't even require people to even be legally in the country. I suspect people from anywhere will be able to simply visit NYC, get the benefits and whatever else they want. I can see a derelict fishing boat over-loaded with Haitians wanting knee replacements arriving and being welcomed by the mayor himself; proof his idea works.

most poor people are sick. they eat low-quality food. hey! i think the city should give out free meal cards that can be used at any restaurant in the 5 borroughs. i mean if they can buy lobster with food stamps, why not a night out on the town at Le Bernardin?? it's not fair that only people with jobs get to eat spectacular food.

but california, though home to some great restaurants, just can’t top the quality of a Le Bernardin or a Les Halles. no, new york is where you’d rather be. especially if you get allergic smelling hay and if you just adore a penthouse view.

Oh yeh, I forgot the soda ban was struck down. If that would have survived these people wouldn’t need healthcare! This is plan B. He he he... :)

I agree with you about poor being unhealthy. But it’s a lousy excuse. When I was dirt poor I ate much healthier than today. I think it’s just a chain of poor decisions. One doesn’t cause the other.

    The mayor is a fool.

Not sure how Florida will handle that. Texas may simply set up an open season with a "liberal" bag limit.

When a person capable of critical thinking examines these things, they see that virtually all people's life status is the result of the series of decisions that we all have make everyday.
In simple language, that means we are determining our own destiny through those decisions, and the result depends on how wise those decisions are, and how well we follow through on them. These are things dependent on character, courage, vision, priorities- and the acceptance of being responsible for yourself. The latter is what socialism rejects, and that appeals to natural human weakness. When we chose to adopt that, we become disabled- unable to help ourselves because it's not our fault that our lives are as they are, and unable to see past that escape of responsibility. Everything becomes someone else's fault, and someone else should pay to fix it.

Only by accepting responsibility for our own decisions and the consequences do we learn to make better decisions. If we hold someone else responsible, we lose that power to learn and change, and that is the power over our own destiny. Since the 60's we have raised several generations where we failed to hold children responsible- and they failed to learn how or why they must. We assumed it was more caring and loving, when in fact, we crippled them.
As the old saying goes- The chickens are coming home to roost now.
