One of the things I frequently notice about tax loving liberals is that they tend to want to raise taxes on the people who have more money than they do. Such is the case here where Cortez wants to tax the 'tippie-tops' but seems to exempt herself by default since she's not a tippie-topper.

Other than getting other people to fight global warming with their sacrifices, what does Cortez plan to do herself to fight it other than telling other people what to do?

You realize the richest guy in the world is a Liberal right?

Also, why wouldn't you get money from people who have it vs people who don't?

I mean, if you get 20$ off the guy at the bottom, that isn't going to get you very far is it?

If Cortez is such a believer in global warming then why doesn't she lower the income level down to what she and her compadres make? Does she even have a plan on how the money will be used other than making her feel good? And the richest guy in the world who's a liberal is free to voluntarily write as many checks as he wants to the global warming fund of his choosing.

So exactly how will this tax reduce greenhouse gases?

She's going have to sell her rich Dem senators on it. Of course they could always exempt themselves. It's never going to happen, besides why must taxes be raised to reduce carbon emissions to zero and move the country off of fossil fuels. What is she going to replace fossil fuels with? Can't be done.

Democrats are exceedingly generous with other peoples money.

LOL at climate control hysteria not being a socialist scheme.

    A) The Rich should always pay more. Those with more pay more. Those with less, pay less. Simple as that.
    B) I would like to see where the money would go, but really, she floated an idea. I doubt the nuts and bolts have been decided on as of yet.
C)He started his own 1Billion dollar fund. And spends billions more on all sorts of initiatives. Unfortunately, he isn't all that indicative of others who might be close to his financial level

She pulls the canard about tax rates were 70% back in the 60's and 70's without noting deductions and credits were WAY higher and that in fact the effective tax rates are similar today without all the deductions. And when Tapper cornered her with the, your plans will cost $40B over the next ten years but your higher tax only raises $2B so where is the other $38B going to come from, she had no answer, it will just appear because these things will be so great.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez needs to understand a few things. A) She's a member of a party that has a platform. She should stick with the program because B) The rest of her party and its House Leader understands that legislation has to have a hope of passing or they'll lose credibility.

This idea has no chance of passing.

She is a freshman Congressperson with one day in office...why do you let her scare you so?

Secondly...why would you be so scared of what she proposes for the uber-rich?

Your second question essentially answers your first. I'm not scared of her because, like you said, she's after the uber rich and they will never let this happen. The point of the thread is how liberals like to tax everyone while trying to protect their own money. It's kinda like Kennedy saying we need more clean power but don't put those windmills in my backyard.

There is a huge middle class. But, then, they want their entitlements paid for by strangers, and they want to save the world and not pay for that, either. That's who Ocasio-Cortez represents, the teat-sucking entitled infantile class. The ones who didn't vote for Trump, anyway.

You are noting the schism that exists between the establishment left and the wide eyed new left.

Where is the part of his statement that indicates he is "scared" of her?

As if the "Green New Deal" proposals relating to energy / climate change / carbon emissions weren't crazy enough, Ocasio-Cortez also wants her "Green New Deal" to include single-payer health care and a federal jobs guarantee, but those last two seem to get swept under the rug while she panders to her tree-hugging, rich-people-hating fans.

And republicans like to cut taxes while increasing spending. Makes sense they’d elect a guy who’s always going through bankruptcy

Trump is not 'always' going through bankruptcies, and as far as I know he has never gone through one personally. Now I know a few of his businesses have filed for it, but that's the nature of business and he's had far more successes than failure. Care to point out the business risks Obama and Clinton took? When it comes to business success, Trump has a good batting average and Clinton and Obama can't even step up to the plate.

No and that is why we need to decimate government spending.

You said all that needs to be said on this subject.
Democrats who embrace socialists but faint worrying about Russians is as disingenuous and laughable as the idiots they have elected to represent them.

Calculations to just cover the debt we are not covering now are a tax of 65% of the, as AOC calls it, the 'tippy top'. The current deficit is less than 1 trillion but may climb to 1 trillion by the end of 2019.

This means that for the extra $4 trillion a year needed for the 'New Green Deal' a tax of 70% will not approach paying for it.

It won't, that's beauty of it. No matter how much they line their own pockets with those dollars they can always blame the lack of results on the rest of the world.
