    I just purchased 2 horror movies at Barnes & Noble.
    I was gonna get - Salem's lot - but the non-Blueray version was $ 19.99
    Not gonna pay that even though it is over 180 minutes.
    I got the original - Frankenstein - for $ 9.99 with my 10 % B & N discount.
    However it's just 71 minutes long.But it's a true classic.
    I have the Original Bela Lugosi - Dracula - also short and
    also one of my favorities Lon Chaney Jr. - The Wolf Man -.
    I also got - Creepshow 2 -. I can't find the Original - Creepshow -
    which is about as good as it gets.The only thing that compares is
    the Brit offering - Tales from the Crypt - { 1972 } which is out of print.
    I know one of the - Creepshow 2 - anthrology with George Kennedy and
    Dorothy Lamour - " Old Chief Wood'nhead " is quite good.
    These are based mainly on Stephen King stuff by also George Romero
    has one or two.I wanna see how cruddy the Romero ones are.
    His body of work in my estimation is worthless schlock.

    Sleep away camp ...hands down one of the most disturbing films I have ever seen and the suprise at the end is unexpected. There is one scene similar to the Shining shower scene, except it is a hot curling iron going up, instead of a knife being stabbed down. You even hear meat sizzling.

    Just finished a Movie which is not a Horror Film but a
    True story with horrific implications and events.
    - All the Money in the World - { 2017 } the true life story of
    J.Paul Getty { at the time The Richest Capiltalist in the world }
    and his Ebenezer Scrooge like miserly ways and how they impacted
    his Nephew { a Favorite of Getty's } and his abduction { Kidnapping }.
    Getty { at the time an old man and very much The Penny Pincher } refused
    to pay the $ 17 Million dollar ramson.He almost delighted in the fact that
    he could.More to send a message that he wasn't about to be railroaded by
    some kidnapping and Easy Money Ransom.Old man Getty { played with
    true realism by Christopher Plummer } used excuse after excuse as to why
    he could not afford to pay the Ransom.Plus it was a matter of
    his Ethics.The Young man { nephew } had a father who was spoiled rotten
    by Getty and became an Opium den addict.The Nephews father was a bad
    influence on his son and the Grandfather dint like it one bit.However the Mom
    was a real trooper who had been Disinherited.Therfore unable to meet
    any ransom demand.
    Some scenes are like a horror movie.The Young Getty was Kidnapped by
    some low-life Italians and kept in a remote,out of the way Italian countryside
    abandoned wharehouse.Similar to - Hostel - { 2005 }.

    A very under appreciated movie and still superior to the remake.

    Invaders from Mars (1953)

    The problem exists that the Original was released at the wrong time.
    At least the wrong studio.Early 50's Sci-fi was in the birth stage.
    Later 50's ,Sci-fi was too popular and therefore mostly made cheap.
    Great examples of 50's Sci-fi in the early stage are :
    - The Day the Earth Stood Still - { 1951 } unsurpassed to this day.
    - The Thing From Another World - { 1951 } still great
    - It Came From Outer Space - { 1953 } just watched in early summer
    - The War of the Worlds - { 1953 } somewhat cheesy
    - 2O,OOO Leagues Under the Sea - { 1954 } still a classic
    - Creature From the Black Lagoon - { 1954 } cheeky but worth a watch
    - Killers From Space - { 1954 } barely worth watching
    - Them! - { 1954 } Great classic
    - Tobor the Great - { 1954 } very 50ish and therefore dated
    - It Came From Beneath the Sea - { 1956 } I dunno
    - Forbidden Planet - { 1956 } still great
    I do like cheap Sci-fi from the 50's as did Stephen King who found
    the TV series - Outer Limits - to be top rate.I agree.
    Way too many versions of cheap and low budget Sci-fi to mention.
    Some are really pretty good.Many are just so-so.

    There was a similar Saturday night show in Pittsburgh (Chiller Theater) hosted by the late, great Bill Cardille (aka Chilly Billy). It was so popular that the NBC station it was on was the last affiliate in the country to pick up Saturday Night Live. Cardille played himself as the field reporter in Night of the Living Dead. His interview with the sheriff resulted in one of the classic bits of horror movie dialogue.

    Watched - The Bat - { 1959 } and the original - Frankenstein { 1931 }
    Last night.Got half way thru both.Frankenstein began with an Introduction by
    Carl Laemmle Jr. { son of Carl Laemmle,one of the founders of - Universal Pictures - }
    Laemmle Sr. took on Thomas Edison who in the early age of Movies,somewhat
    dominated.One strategy Laemmel { pronounced " Lem-lee " } utilized to great effect
    was Star recognition.Making certain stars headline the Marquee like a Mary Pickford.
    - The Bat - is kinda unspooky yet I like it.I particularly like how Agnes Moorehead
    acted alongside her Helper or Girl Friday.Where *slang dialogue is used to fun effect.
    That's my technique,as well.

    * use of " them " and " ain't ".

    It's Alive It's Alive ... It's Alive
    It's Alive

    " In the name of God now I know what it feels
    like TO BE GOD " - Dr. Frankenstein { Colin Clive } as
    the scene ends.
