Or Hell is a dimension where the impurities, the dross, is figuratively burnt off, cleansed, from that fragment of consciousness that is in each human being. Which is what a God of Love would do, logically, morally.

Yes, the ancient "sciences were not Empirical.
They did not use the Scientific Method.

Today, we use this Scientific Method to do experiments and demonstrate that if other do them again, even they will see or find the same consequences.
Hence science now says "seeing is believing."

I "see" the results you say I shall see, and all of us "see" the same thing.
This makes the idea a fact.
A "fact" is something tangible which is one piece of the Reality we must discover.

Hence, the modern Scientific Method actually proves one Reality exist for us all, and that Truth can be concretely uncovered and certified.

No he would not discount the ancient collective unconscious at all, in fact it would be an important part of his paradigm. You see, he thinks humanity, the fragment of consciousness in the each of us, that is from big C Consciousness, is moving away from fear and egoism, into love. He and I see ego consciousness in the same manner, in that it is based purely upon individual accumulated memory, and thought, with thought being simply the response of memory. Which by the way is verifiable in the each of us, if one looks, observes, investigates. That is the beauty of some of this, in that it isn't just an idea, but it is something that can be directly SEEN, and understood. Of course it does require time and energy, and motivation, in order to look at this "me' that is the ego, as distinct from the physical organism.

The collective unconscious is what is necessary in order for humanity to evolve from fear and egoism, into love and non egoism. But the collective unconscious is not ego consciousness, which is based only upon memory in this life, what we are taught, our experiences in navigating physical existence, our social and religious conditioning, which is then stored in conscious memory, which is of course a tool for survival and technology which is accumulative. SO when a new human being is born, within human consciousness, before ego consciousness arises from the accumulation of enough memory to project the "me", the ego, there is a collective unconscious, which is the collective experience of humanity, not as an individual thing, for it has no ego identity attached to it, but it can also unconsciously affect a man. We are not aware consciously of this collective unconscious, for it is unconscious, but can arise into consciousness, if needed. On top of this, we add to the unconscious, adding to the collective unconscious, while not being specifically aware what is going on...for it is an unconscious act. But then ego consciousness develops, as the baby accumulates memory, and at some point when the sufficient memory is there, the ego is born, from memory. This is when the duality of human consciousness is born, the thinker and the thought, the controller and the controlled, the judge and the judged. This also creates the illusion of being separate from the WHOLE, which is the universe, the world.

This duality, this separation inwardly, and then the separation outwardly, is necessary for technology, for if one could not distinguish oneself from the world, we could never develop anything. We could not be creative. But the whole point of existence is to see that this duality is just a tool, and that the non dual is the actual reality, that we are not actually separate, either inwardly or outwardly, but are all of one mind at the core, and instead of being separate from the world, the universe, we are in fact, just a part of it, as your fingers are a part of your hand. We are separate inwardly and outwardly only as an idea, created by thought.

Oh trust me, like I said I am no perfect angel. Yes there is a "problem" with my behavior as an adult and like I said you probably don't want me to be your go to babysitter. However, there are far worse people than me running around. I'm not going to tip toe through life on eggshells just because I am supposedly obligated to be a perfect role model for upcoming generations. Proper parenting will prevent children from imitating people like me. Having damn near all kids born out of wedlock in todays day and age with improper upbringing isn't my fault. It's parents job to raise their children properly, not society. If parents fail at raising their children then don't expect society to all transform into perfect little angels so that kids won't imitate their bad behavior.

Don't get me wrong, I don't go out of my way to be a scumbag in front of kids or anything. When friends come to visit with their children I don't running around cussing up a storm or anything. I tone it down because Im not rude, unless football is on and my team does something stupid then my censor evaporates and you will hear plenty of very foul sounding 4 letter word combinations regardless of if the Pope was in my living room.

My sexual promiscuity has hurt people in the past Im sure. 20 something year old boys want to have sex with the entire female planetary population. 20 something year old girls want to settle down and get married for the most part. That creates a bit of a clash of priorities in life at that age. So yeah I'm pretty sure I have been cussed out for giving off "misleading" signals to the hot girl at the bar who envisioned the two of us living happily ever after. Me and about 712,000,000 other young men at that age. I'm sure you've heard the phrase "I used to be that age I know how boys think". It's not exactly uncommon. Is it "right?" No, is it normal? Yeah...

Like I said, I don't run around society intentionally acting amok just because I can. While out in society I am very respectful and courteous to everyone. Everybody is referred to as "sir" or "ma'am" regardless of if you are a 16 year old host at a restaurant or a 60 year old business man. I'm that guy you hate because I hold the door open for you when you are too far away and it makes it awkward. I'm also the guy who will leave you a $10 tip even if I only ordered 2 beers because I used to be a bartender and I know how tight money can be doing that job. If you're homeless or lying and pretending to be because you are a lazy piece of crap then make sure you find the lifted pickup truck somewhere in the parking lot. I am a sucker for those people and if you come up and ask me for a dollar then you'll get a 20 dollar bill. And if you are honest with me and say you just want a beer then I'll give you enough to buy a 6 pack instead.

Now when I get around friends outside of the judging eyes of the public then my filters come off and I start using the F word as a noun, adjective, and verb. Or I do that in a place to thats acceptable such as a bar or something full of adults.

Trust me, I am far from the worse plague in society. I'd much rather have a society full of foul mouthed, beer drinking, lifted truck driving, Marlboro smoking, NRA membership having, HARD WORKING, individuals with CAREERS who EARN their money and support the economy over a society full of self entitled lazy folks who think they should be able to just exist here and get paid for it.

I'll take a whole bunch of "me's" over a bunch of "them" any day of the week. If you are worried about our future generations then people like me are far from your biggest concern. This country is going to be VERY different when we die off and this generation takes over and it was FAR from people like me's fault.

But as time goes by and our knowledge increases, truth as we know it today may come false in the future. Perhaps the concrete never really settles and solidifies.

I tend to go with what the millions upon million of NDE'ers say about what happens after death. What their stories consist of appear to be consistent with what the bible says.

Yeah well since "morality" is a subjective term there is no telling exactly who is "better" or "worse" than I am as a human being.

It's not subjective when it comes to God. However, surely there are virtues that we can all agree on.

I spent 24 years of my life researching this question. The answers I found were not at all what I expected to find. It's impossible to summarize my findings in a brief entry here. Rather, let me point you in the right direction. The fastest path to the truth...First, research Near-Death Experiences, for they offer powerful evidence for life after physical death. The two books by Dr. Eben Alexander are among the best in this class. Second, explore past-life regressions for yourself, and research outcomes like a genealogy project. There are several good books and video resources on this topic. Possibly the best single book I've found is called "Soul Survivor, by Bruce and Andrea Leininger. Another great book, though a challenging read, is Seth Speaks, by Jane Roberts. It discusses many concepts new to most Americans, but very much connected to the truth of the matter. You will learn that we are already eternal beings having a temporary physical experience here on Earth. Whether you believe in reincarnation or not, you do reincarnate, though you have much more personal say in how it goes than the leading religions teach. Another powerful resource that can offer you the "big picture" as well as personal methods for connecting with that picture, is Self-Realization Fellowship (SLF), founded by the guru who taught Gandhi, Paramahansa Yogananda. SLF is NOT a religion. It is a powerful method for connecting to our inner self, and tuning in to the quantum answers found within each of us. The headquarters for SLF is located in California. Google it and study its message. Everything I have suggested fits together. Answers await your curiosity. They offer understanding, joy and peace. May you find them all. :)

When you get to the point where you say the mansion in the sky reward makes no sense it made me smirk. Nothing about surviving your death in any form makes sense. We know that by damaging our brains we fundamentally change our conscious experience and yet when we die and our brains are fully damaged somehow there is still going to be an us to experience an afterlife? In this world of thought nothing is valid which means everything is. So yes not only do we get mansions we get pet dragons and lightsabers.

The fact that there even IS a God is subjective. We can't really say your particular God's vision of morality is "right" when we aren't sure if your God even exists at all.

There are certainly some virtues that all rational civilized people can agree on both religious and non religious though.

Wishful thinking is nice and all, but it doesn't really provide an argument for anything. I too would love to explore the universe, but that doesn't mean it's about to happen.

I wonder about reincarnation, though, because each of us is kind of a point of consciousness that might be considered part of the grand universal whole, meaning each of us is but one conduit through which the universe has a kind of self-awareness. If we are all one in essence, then surely "we" are the universe and will always be conscious somewhere, somehow, at least as long as there is conscious life in existence, and if there is not, then that is a dead time that will not be experienced anyway, and so the universe must "wait" until there is life once again, whereupon once again "we" get to live and experience the universe through that conduit. In short, I'm talking about continuous, potentially eternal consciousness with no great dependence on the individual lifeform. It's an idea I have a very hard time describing :D

Of course, since NDEs were occurring before the bible was written, the writers probably drew upon those experiences, creating a story which seemed consistent with what they had already heard.

    Yes. What's your point?

Just because you don't believe in Him doesn't mean His existence is subjective.

I think death is the greatest of transitions. We dread transition....it's stressful whether taking on a new job, going through a divorce, moving to a new area.....or leaving this world.

I remember a n elderly lady from my church who was exceedingly healthy until she had a stroke at 99. She was in a coma. When I came to visit her in the hospital she came out of her coma and looked at me smiling and said my name and that she had seen the face of God. She immediately went back into unconsciousness and died. I hope my transition is as beautiful .....though is I think it's easier when you are 99 years old. I want to live that long....

You cease to exist and your constituent atoms are recycled by a completely uncaring universe.

No mystery, no supernatural mumbo jumbo, no catering to egocentricity, just decomposition of our bodies into their original "star stuff" components.
