One very important difference I've noticed between liberals and conservatives

There are of course many differences between liberals and conservatives but this one stands out. Back when Obama was in charge, you didn't see liberals happy about the fact that the things Obama was doing would upset conservatives. They were just happy that Obama was doing things that they (usually) agreed with. But now that Trump is in power, we are constantly seeing (particularly on this forum) conservatives celebrating because they believe what Trump is doing is going to piss off liberals. In many cases, it seems to matter less to conservatives that Trump is doing things that they actually agree with. What matters far more is that Trump is doing things that they think are going to piss off liberals, and it makes them very happy.

Is it just me, or do conservatives seem to be more spiteful than liberals? I guess I will be accused of suggesting that liberals are better human beings than conservatives because they are not as spiteful. Although I am making hypothesis (see my question above), I'm not drawing any definitive conclusions, and I invite conservatives to present evidence to the contrary.

This is not new. Way back when Barry Goldwater (a conservatives conservative) ran for president, he picked a guy named Miller to run as VP. Conservatives were overjoyed because Democrats hated Miller. Of course, Goldwater lost in a landslide defeat. Yes, I do find the posts on here by Trump supporters to be vengeful and angry.

Liberals see a lot of what's wrong with America, however, it is their goal to fix those wrongs and go on. Not to anger anyone, but get the problems solved. Obamacare is a good example. Obamacare was a liberal attempt to fix a broken health care system. It was far from perfect and needed work, nothing unusual in a major new system.

Instead of trying to fix a system, they took delight in the "failure" of Obamacare and spent the next decade trying to make it worse and destroy it. Their ideas for a replacement --nothing. They just wanted to wreck something with Obama's name on it. These are destroyers, not builders.

What do you think MAGA is all about if not the destruction of seventy years of progress and of the United States government.

I still have progressives tell me to shut up and take the ACA and I’ll love it.

Here’s my theory. Progressives lack a well developed sense of humor. As long as they are forcing something on someone and exerting power over others they don’t care if anyone is happy or peeved or if there is irony or humor in the situation.

 

Conservatives had a good reputation not long ago. Trump has poisoned the GOP as many conservative writers point out.

 

Maybe conservatives just find things funny that really aren't. You guys have Dennis Miller, Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy. We have everyone else.

 

I am fairly conservative in numerous areas, liberal in others — while liberals here can be flippant and sometimes petty few get the sheer enjoyment that I see from conservatives when Trump is doing something they would have decried had Obama done it. Not to mention the logical fallacies many of them engage in.

That man has done a number on the party, or maybe he has just allowed their real narrative to be out in the open.

I like some standup. But most of it I got enough of in high school and job sites when younger.

Since O'Reilly got fired from Fox New several years ago, people like Dennis Miller are forgotten. There really are no Republican humorists/ comedians since they have no sense of humor like Trump who only reacts in childish anger. The guy is such an embarrassment to the nation. Republicans are held accountable for the fool.

Except that the things Obama did actually DID piss off conservatives. Forced Obamacare, forced banning of wolf hunting, forced gay marriage, forced bank regulations.

 

Some of these were controversial to some, most not. I don't recall Democrats (liberals if you must) tap dancing on conservative's heads over it. No venom or revenge, just legislation.

I would have to disagree with your premise and say that you are creating a strawman issue and asking for a response to a false allegation. To respond would be to validate your hypothetical so it's a neat trick but I won't play.

Watching a fun freak show while Trump is doing absolutely fantastic job implementing his agenda, MakingAGA and erasing Obama's legacy from the pages of history... What can possibly beat that?

Sure. I like the Hodge Twins. Owen Benjamin is OK. Chad Prather can be funny. Even his too serious stuff beats endless streams of sex jokes in my opinion.

What’s your definition of comedy or what’s funny? Steven Crowder seems to be popular, stealing viewers of late night TV. I think Chris Plante is as amusing as John Oliver and I think Oliver is a hoot most of the time. I never watched Oliver till a progressive recommended him to me. In my opinion if you can’t see humor in diverse situations or laugh at yourself or your beliefs sometimes you don’t really have a sense of humor.

To broaden out even more, consider this. Love or hate his politics, how many people a day laugh at Limbaugh’s parodies? They are funny. So are the boys from Pod Save America sometimes.

Good comedy and humor is universal to me. Since laughter and a good attitude are recommended by everyone from Solomon to modern science and medicine, I see denying oneself humor based on tribalism as analogous to self immolation.

 

Lest we forget the "If you criticize Obama's policies, you're a bigot and racist" liberal smear that started in 2008 and still continues today, the OP's feeble attempt to portray these slanderous liberals as nice reasonable and policy-oriented guys notwithstanding.

 

I don't remember any liberal ever say that. But I do know that conservatives regard anyone who disagrees with Trump as someone who hates America.

 

Yeah, I've said Obama should have gone through impeachment hearings, and no one called me a racist. Any criticism I have for Trump typically devolves along those lines, though. It isn't even close.

If you are looking at the spitefulness of conservatives. It might be a good idea to consider that all it is is a reflex action to being called bad for so many years by the literally dumb ass progressive pc culture.
